The ringing of the school bell resonated throughout the halls of Olympian High's campus building, signaling the end of today's class. It was the last day of classes, and the usual flurry of students flooding out of the classrooms had their spirits more cheerful than usual as they chatted among themselves about their plans for summer.

Amelia exited her classroom and sighed, taking a mental note of the last requirement her English Lit teacher gave to the class just a second before the bell rang—a five-page essay that had to be passed by the end of the day. It made Amelia roll her eyes. Not because it was given to them last minute, but the fact that her professor explicitly told them that she didn't want to be bothered grading papers while she was on vacation, and yet she gave them something to do. The audacity.

Well, at least it would be the last one for the whole year.

That wasn't the thing that worried Amelia the most right now. The Oracle's words from last night played in her head like a record on repeat. It was something far more unsettling than the move Athena made to the two criminals who threatened the Oracle. The mere idea that Rhea had darker secrets than she realized made her insides churn. She wondered whether or not her father Demetrius knew about Rhea's involvement in a sinister group. Either way, she had to talk to him once they got more information from the Oracle.

I also have to ask him if he had any luck looking for—

A gentle nudge on the elbow snapped Amelia back to reality. She didn't realize that she stood like a statue by the entrance of the English Lit classroom until she felt the little push. She looked up and smiled as her eyes landed on a certain person that she waited the whole day to see.

"Pierre!"

Her black-haired friend waved at her. "Hey, Amelia. What's up?"

"I'm fine."

He tilted his head. "You sure?"

Amelia gazed at him oddly. "Of course. Why?"

"Well, you looked like you were spacing out or something," he said. "Is there a problem?"

Amelia shook her head. Her best friend knew her too well, but he didn't have to know about her problems. "It's nothing, just a thought. . ." She rested her arm on Pierre's shoulder. "Speaking of which, do you have any thoughts on what you're gonna do this summer?"

"Well, mom's taking me to a holiday in the Philippines," he said. "She figured it's been a while since we last saw our relatives there."

"Really?"

"Yeah. I was still ten back when we last visited," Pierre told her. "I'm pretty sure my relatives are gonna act all shocked because I grew up or whatever."

She chuckled. "That's cute."

"Believe me when I tell you it's not," he said, frowning. "I remember clearly how they were talking to me like, 'Oh Pering, look at you! You've gotten so big!' or 'Pering, you look very much like an Amerikano. So handsome!'." He shuddered. "I could tolerate all of their flattery, but the nickname they gave me was the worst!"
