Ch. 4 Illuminated

"You didn't steal these, did you?" Scott asked his best friend.

"No, I cloned them using the RFID emulator," Stiles explained.

"Is that worse than stealing?" Scott wondered.

"Probably," Ayla told him.

Stiles sent her a look. "It's smarter," he said. She rolled her eyes.

"Piper, can I ask you something?" Kira wondered, pulling the other girl to the side. She glanced towards the others once they were out of earshot- or human earshot at least. "You didn't tell them anything, did you? About the pictures?"

"I mean, I doubt any of them would care, but I just told them you had some pictures of you on your phone that you didn't want anyone to see," Piper told her.

"What kind of pictures?" Kira wondered.

"Do you really have to ask? What kind of pictures would you put this much effort into getting rid of?" Piper asked.

"Oh. Okay," Kira said, not seeming bothered. Piper managed a small smile and the two moved back to the others.

"Okay. So, now almost everybody's out dealing with the blackout. But there's always somebody at the front desk. There's dispatch and usually a night shifter or two. You guys are gonna use the service door entrance by the dumpster. All right? Nobody uses it. Now, I'll text you if anyone comes out. But, guys, if you get caught, I can't help you. My dad's under investigation for an impeachment because of your dad, so if anything happens, I will run and leave you three for dead," Stiles warned.

"We'll be fine," Ayla told him.

"You sure you want to go in with them? I mean, I heard you talking to my dad last night," Scott told the she-wolf.

"We both know that destroying evidence is rather low on my list of crimes," Ayla reminded. She took the key cards from Piper, before turning to Stiles. "Thank you," she told him.

"I would ask my dad, but..."

"We know. You did enough," Ayla assured him.

"Alright, hurry up," Stiles told them.

"Be careful," Scott added.

"It's so cute that he cares," Piper muttered, giving her ex a teasing smile.

Ayla just pushed her towards the station. "Move your annoying ass," she told her.

The three girls snuck in just as Stiles had told them to, carefully making their way through the dark station. Ayla tried to use her werewolf hearing to keep track of where everyone in the building was, stopping the other two girls every once in a while to avoid anyone.

They eventually made it into evidence and began searching the boxes. "Kira," Piper whispered, holding up the other girl's phone. Both her and Ayla walked over and Kira took her phone.

"It's dead," she announced. "We have to take it."

"No, they'll know it's gone and Stiles' father might actually lose his job," Ayla reminded.
