"All right, everyone. Let's get started. We were just talking about internment camps and prisoners of war. There's a passage in our reading that I'd like to go over in more detail. Who would like to come up and read aloud for us?" Mr. Yukimura asked the class. He glanced around when nobody volunteered. "Mr. Stilinski, how about you?"
Stiles looked up at him in surprise. "Oh, maybe someone else could," he recommended.
"Everyone participates in my class, Mr. Stilinski," Mr. Yukimura told him.
Ayla frowned, knowing Stiles hadn't been able to read the past few days. "I can read," she offered.
"Thank you, Ms. Hale, you may go next," Mr. Yukimura told her, gesturing for Stiles to come up.
"Okay," he agreed, walking up to the podium. He stared at the page for a moment, beginning to hyperventilate.
Ayla watched him in concern. "Scott," she said, never looking away from her friend.
Scott glanced back at her, but then followed her gaze to his best friend. He stood up from his desk. "Stiles? You okay?" he asked. Stiles had to grab the podium to keep his balance. Scott ran over to him. "I should take him to the nurse's office," he told Mr. Yukimura. The teacher nodded, looking concerned.
The alpha then began to lead his best friend from the room. "Scott," Ayla said, moving to stand to go with them.
Scott shook his head. "He's okay," he told her.
The she-wolf frowned, but let the two leave the room by themselves. She reached forward, grabbing Kira's research off Scott's desk and beginning to read. Whatever was going on with all of them, they needed to figure it out.

Neither of the two boys had returned by the time the bell rang. Mr. Yukimura yelled out the homework as students began to leave the room, not that Ayla heard it. She hadn't paid attention to hardly any of the class, either worrying about Stiles or keeping herself busy reading what Kira had printed out. She placed the research in her bag and stood up.
Piper walked over to her. "What the hell just happened to Velma?" she wondered.
Ayla gave a shrug, not even managing a smile at the on-going joke. "I don't know," she admitted.
"Should we grab their bags?" Both turned to see Kira behind them. She nodded to Scott and Stiles' forgotten backpacks.
"Uh, yeah," Ayla said, grabbing Scott's. Kira grabbed Stiles' and the three girls walked out of class.
The new girl glanced between the two others as they walked down the hall. "So are you two like best friends?" she wondered, hoping they didn't see what she was really asking.
The two glanced at each other. "Sort of," Ayla agreed.
"Are we?" Piper asked.
"We've known each other since seventh grade," Ayla reminded.
"Yes, but you're also my ex girlfriend," Piper said. Ayla sent her a look, having been skipping over that detail for a reason.
"You- you two used to date?" Kira asked.
Piper seemed to then realize her mistake. "Uh, yeah. She dumped me about a year ago," Ayla quickly explained. Kira nodded and awkward silence suddenly filled the space. The she-wolf sighed. Why had she left the class with them? Fortunately, they were almost to the locker room.
