"What're they doing now?"

"Kaito is fighting the boy who attacked you. I'm so sorry I couldn't protect you, Aurora." Makie places band-aids around my body.

I stretch my hand out trying to find his head, I ruffle what I believe is his hair. "It's okay Makie, I don't want you getting hurt for me anyway."

The smell of blood becomes pungent through the hallways and my stomach becomes queasy. "Is Kai still fighting?"

"Yes."

"Kai please don't kill the nigga!" I shout as loud as I can, although I wanted him to do some damage to Elijah, he doesn't need to kill him.

"You good cuz?" Chris, I assume says.

"I'm good cuz," I say trying to mock his tone of voice. He chuckles hugging me from the side.

"Kai don't kill the nigga!" I shout once again.

Smelling Kai, I smile hoping he was done fighting. I'd much rather bask in his smell than blood. Kai's soft hands take mine and guide me through the hallways leaving behind Makie and Chris. "Makie, make sure to get to class on time!" I yell before following Kai blindly.

"Where are we going?" It was getting hard to trace where we were in the school if we even are still on campus.

"I'm walking you home, is your dad home?" Kai responds more hostile than usually.

"No. Wheres my backpack?" I ask.

"I have it."

I nod my head letting Kai drag me home. "Once we get to your apartment, I'll check you out for a concussion, give you some medicine then you get some rest. Sound good?"

"Yes sir."

I and Kai walk together in the fall weather, the wind pushes against our faces and I know Kai isn't too fond of the cold, even though his favourite holiday is Christmas.

"What does that mean?" I ask Kai, he told me something in Japanese but won't really tell me the meaning. I know he wouldn't say anything rude, in fact, it sounded like a term of endearment.

"愛してる," he says again.

"愛してる," I repeat after him.

Translation: I love you.

Kai stops walking, making me stop walking as well, I look back at him. He looks at me with wide eyes before walking again. "Was I not suppose to say that?" I say curiously.

"No, it's just that your Japanese is really good, that's all, princess. Don't worry about it."

"What did I even say and why are you blushing?"

"You said, 'it's chilly out' "

"Oh, well you said it first, so you're the cold one?"

"Yeah, I'm just cold," he dismisses my words.

"Let's go back then."

We hadn't been walking for long, and the weather wasn't that bad compared to other Canadian fall temperatures, but Kai still turns around and takes us back to my apartment complex, almost like he's in a rush.

Maybe he really was just cold or maybe I should learn Japanese to confirm that he really just said he loved me.

We walk faster than usual and make it to our neighbourhood in no time. The traffic only becomes heavier the further we walk, kids spread out all over the sidewalks, restaurants making dinner for all of Toronto to eat.
