Today was the day, the camping trip day had arrived. Today was Friday, and you were going to be spending all weekend in a forest. You woke up exhausted, you had spent last night packing last minute because you could never seem to not procrastinate. By the time you fell asleep last night it was already one in the morning. Your groggy eyes didn't want to stay open for longer than a minute. You forced yourself awake and slithered out of bed. You went to work taming your hair and decided that leaving it down today was in your best interest.
Grabbing your packed bags, you made your way downstairs. "Breakfast is ready hun! Hurry up and eat, I need to leave early for work today" Your mom called as you reached the last step. You set your bags down and made your way to the kitchen. Tessa was already almost done eating as she scarfed her eggs down. "Breakfast smells good" you said as you sat down. "Thank you, I whipped up something quick so I can rush off" she said in a hurry as she was putting everything away. "Are you excited for your camping trip?" Your mom asked. "As excited as I'll ever be" you said groggily. "Oh I'm sure it's going to be a blast" your mother replied enthusiastically. Your mom was already in her work clothes and getting ready to leave. "Alright girls, I'm going, eat and please get to school on time" she sang giving us each a kiss and rushing out the door. "Bye, love you mom!" Tessa and you shouted in unison.
Tessa and you finished your breakfast and washed your plates. You helped her pack her school bag and made sure she remembered her lunch. Grabbing your packed bags you both made your way to the bus stop. With all your luggage you were not walking all the way to school today. The trip to school was relatively short, you struggled to get all your bags off the bus. Juggling two bags over your left arm and a third on your right, including your bookbag you carried on your back, you made your way to the bus door. "Need some help with those?" You heard a voice say behind you. You looked behind you as best you could and let out a small gasp. Standing closer than you thought possible was none other than Zim. He looked at you with an expressionless face and held out a hand. "Uh, thanks, that would be great actually" you said handing him a bag. You tried to make your voice normal but it failed miserably, instead a squeaky mouse like voice came from your lips. You were startled, you hadn't seen Zim on the bus at all. "When did he get on?" You wondered to yourself.
You both made your way off the bus, Zim trailing behind you with your bag in his hands. You had to admit he looked adorable carrying your bag for you, even though you still couldn't believe it with your own eyes. You both arrived at Ms. Bitters's class, you went over to your seat and put all your bags on the floor. "Thanks for carrying that for me, it was a big help" you said to Zim as he put your bag down. He looked at you and have you a slight smile and sat down. You immediately looked over to where Dib sat and he was looking right back at you with wide eyes. He couldn't believe it either must be. You gave him a shrug and mouthed "I don't know" to him silently.
"Terrible morning class" Ms. Bitters said in a hoarse voice. "Today we leave for a camping trip, I expect all of you to behave yourselves, and please try to get lost so I don't have to bring all of you back" she said unapologetically. You gave Dib a questioning look and he looked back at you with a sigh. You never really understood why they let her teach children. Shaking it off you listened to the rest of her speech about acceptable forest behavior and mediocre survival tactics. After all was said and done, Ms. Bitters loaded you all up on the bus. You sat next to Dib who was helping you with your bags this time. You both settled down and the bus drove away leading you all into the dark unknown forest.
