She poured some into a bowl, before going to the fridge. She found some milk that's date wasn't too questionable. She then poured it into the bowl and went to find the spoons. She heard footsteps that sounded a little too heavy to be Ayla coming towards the room as she did so. She grabbed her spoon and turned around to see that Derek had entered the kitchen and was staring at her in surprise. He simply just shook his head. "No," he muttered.
"Derek!" Piper exclaimed in excitement.
"No, no, no, no. I moved all the way across the country for a reason," he said, more to himself than her.
"And I followed you!" Piper told him.
"Oh, God. This has to be a bad dream," he muttered.
Piper ran over and hugged the werewolf before he could stop her. Derek just sighed in defeat. "I know you missed me!" Piper told him.
He shook his head and was grateful for the fact that she released him and went back to her cereal. Ayla walked into the kitchen. She decided to not even pretend that this wasn't happening. She walked over to the utensils drawer and grabbed a spoon of her own. She then joined Piper at the counter and took a bite of the other girl's cereal. Piper didn't even argue as she continued to eat.
"When did this happen?" Derek asked in confusion.
"She tricked her mom into moving here and then forced her way back into my life," Ayla explained, in between mouthfulls of cereal.
Derek nodded. "So we're not even pretending that you didn't sneak her in last night?" he wondered.
"What's the point?" Ayla asked.
He just sighed. "Okay, then," he muttered. A part of him felt like this was one of those moments where he was supposed to try to be the parent, given that he was her guardian now. But the part of him that knew that Ayla had been sneaking Piper in since she was thirteen and would never stop won. So he just walked to the fridge and got some water. "Does your mom at least know where you are?" he wondered.
"Oh, I'm sure she never even noticed I was gone," Piper told him.
The alpha sighed. Like Laura, he had been fully aware of the real reason Piper avoided her house. Her parents had always seemed to be in a fight about something, usually started by her father. Her mother had apparently finally had enough about a year ago. None of the Hales had been oblivious to the fact that that had been when Piper decided to push Ayla away for a while, leading to the inevitable breakup.
Ayla and her both finished the bowl of cereal and the she-wolf dropped the bowl and spoons in the sink. "We've got school. You're on Cora duty," she told him, grabbing Piper's hand as the two left the kitchen.

A smile made it's way onto Ayla's face as she heard Piper yawn beside her. The she-wolf was currently tying her shoes before cross-country practice started. In the four years they had known each other, Ayla couldn't remember Piper ever doing any kind of sport or physical activity unless forced. But Ayla had decided to drag the other girl with her this time.
"Remind me why we're doing this?" Piper asked.
Ayla stood up, turning to face her. "Because while I have gotten to the point that I trust Scott to keep it together, I still don't trust Isaac," she admitted.
"So we're babysitting the newbie-werewolf?" Piper questioned.
"Exactly. And honestly, I'm trying to be new happier, more in control Ayla," the she-wolf told her.
"What does running have to do with that?" Piper wondered.
"It has to do with the fact that I need some productive way to get my energy out that doesn't involve ripping something to shreds or scaring the crap out of bunnies," Ayla explained.
