The Duke's eyes, which has calmed down were looking at me. He came back to his usual demeanor.

I was somewhat relieved and bring up the reason why I came here.

"I'd like you to grant me a permission."

I coughed nervously. I wanted to talk about it when the Duke was in his best mood, but when I thought about it, I didn't think there would be a good day for the Duke.

t/n: Lol. I laughed hard when I translated this. XD

But today the Duke was a bit strange. Normally, when Abigail asked for something, He always frowned and hated it. But now, he had a strangely calm expression and I became more nervous.

I struggled to calm my heart and plucked up the courage to say.

"I want to learn swords in the Knight's training hall starting tomorrow."

".....what?"

The Duke's face became distorted as if he heard something he doesn't wanted to hear.

I added hastily.

"I was taking a walk a while ago and happened to find by chance the training hall. Seeing the knights training made me want to try it. Can I?"

"............"

The Duke's face became very complicated.

It was a complex and subtle expression that looked somewhere between astonished and angry.

"Father?"

He was startled when I called him in an uneasy voice.

Then he lowered his head and covered his mouth with one hand.

I panicked and approach him.

"What's wrong? Are you not feeling well?"

"No. Not that.."

When I got closer, I noticed that the Duke was very tall.

Even though Abigail, who was thirteen years old, was taller than other girls in her age, she still had to look up at the Duke for a long time.

I felt like my neck would break, so I took a step back and observed the Duke. His complexion was a bit pale, But he didn't look like he was going to fall.

"......want to learn the sword, you say?"

asked the Duke, whose hand was removed from his mouth, with serious eyes.

I nodded at him.

"Yes."

The Duke was no longer looking at me with confused eyes. As if he had made up his mind. He looked at me sharply as usual.

"Do you know what that means in our family?"

"........."

I know, that is why I'm actually saying that I'm going to learn how to use swords.

The Duke of Carpoem was a symbol of absolute force.
