Dauntless World

Chapter 2

When we pull back, there is silence in the cafeteria, which is really odd for Dauntless. 

We turn to look and see everyone, including the leaders, staring at us. I have never really been the center of attention, but I was right then. It was so quiet in the cafeteria. Of course Tobias had to break it. 

"Tris is my girlfriend and if any of you try anything on her I will kill you!" I stifle a laugh. "Now go back to what you were doing and stop staring, it is creeping us out." he says and when it is loud again, I laugh. 

"You really are something." 

"Yep." he kisses me again and then we turn to all of our friends, who are still staring with wide mouths and eyes. 

"You are dating him/her? I knew it! You owe me $10!" those were the comments made about us between all of our friends. 

"Yes we are dating." I say and then Tobias and I leave. 

"So I hate to say it, but you have to go back to the dorms for sleep." he says and we start walking to the dorms. 

"Yeah I know. It sucks." 

"Well if they give you too hard of a time, come to my apartment, I won't be mad, no matter what time." he says, smiling at me. 

"Okay. I might take you up on that offer." 

We reach the dorms, and he gives me a kiss. 

"I guess I will see you tomorrow, or tonight." he says and I smile. 

"Yep." I kiss him once more and walk inside of the dorms. 

I walk straight to my bed and start to gather my stuff in a bag that they gave us, so I don't have to do that tomorrow. 

"Look who it is! It is the slut who dated the instructor to get brownie points." Peter says and everyone laughs, except me, Christina and Will. 

"Just shut up Peter. You don't know anything." I say and he glares at me. 

"You stole my spot because you dated the instructor, and you just told me to shut up. Watch your back." 

"Just face the fact that I am better than you and everyone else above you was too." 

I yell at him and then turn around and grab my bag, walking out of that place.

Once I get into the hallway, I take a deep breath. Everything that Peter said was a lie. I am not a slut and I am not dating Tobias for brownie points. I don't even think he got a say in the rankings. 

I grip my bag tighter and walk to Tobias's apartment. I know that he told me to come whenever, but it is still weird to be here this late. The banquet was late and it is really late now. I take a deep breath and knock. 

I hear footsteps and rustling, the lights turn on and the door opens, revealing a shirtless Tobias with bedhead, letting me know that he was sleeping. 

"Hi." I say, blushing. 

"Hey. Come on in." he says, opening the door wider for me. 

I walk in and set my bag on the floor and then sit on the couch. He sits next to me, after putting on a shirt, remembering my fear. 

"What were they say--?" he starts but I cut him off. 

"Did you have any say in the rankings?" 

"Nope. It was all Eric and Max. Why?" 

"Peter was saying that I was a slut and that I was only dating you for brownie points. Of course it isn't true, but it still made me mad, so I told him to shut up and he told me to watch my back, so I left." 

"Well, Peter is an idiot." I nod, agreeing. "I'll take the couch, you can take the bed." 

"Are you sure? Because I could sleep on the couch since it is your apartment."

"Yes I am sure, now go." he says and I smile. 

"Can I at least sleep in your shirt?" 

He smiles and takes it off, throwing it at me, which I catch, then stick my tongue out at him, making him laugh. 

"Go, you goof." he says and I kiss him again, then grab my bag and walk into his bathroom. 

I change into his shirt, that ends mid-thigh on me. All that I am left in is my undergarments and his shirt. I brush my teeth and my hair then walk back out to his bedroom and get into his bed. 

As soon as I sit down, his scent surrounds me. His smell is amazing. It smells safe. 

Sleep comes fast.

I wake up with a start and headbutt Tobias. 

"Tobias! Why were you standing there?" 

"Because you were screaming. I didn't think you would attack my head with yours." 

"Whatever. Sorry I was screaming. I was just having a nightmare." 

"Are you better now?"

"Yep."

"Good." he turns around to leave but I stop him by his arm.

"Wait." he turns back around. "Will you sleep with me tonight?"

He nods. "Of course."

He comes over and gets in the bed with me, taking me into his arms. He kisses my forehead and I lean into his chest.

"Goodnight."

"Goodnight." I say before falling into darkness again.
