Destiny's Pov

My eyes opened to the sound of the alarm screeching as it has around the same time for the past five years.

I stood from the uncomfortable bed, stiff blanket in hand as one of the guards came by, peeking his head into my cell to make sure that I was up.

He said nothing to me and I said nothing to him. He  just kept on with his morning stroll, making sure the rest of the inmates were up as well.

I continued on with my own morning routine, making my bed, then going over to the small sink area to wash my face and brush my teeth.

I did that quickly, because I knew that very soon the cell door would open and they would send us off to breakfast, then after that to our morning duties.

I checked the schedule yesterday and saw that I was on laundry duty today, so I kept that in mind as the clinking and rattling of the cell doors sounded as they began to open.

I took a deep breath. Going outside of your cell was always unpredictable. Some days you were fine, you could keep to yourself and no one would bother you, and other days, you could become the target of everyone for no apparent reason.

You never knew which day you were gonna get, and that's one of the worst parts.

I put on my orange oversized sweater and slid on my slippers, then I turned around, took in a big breath of air, and released it before walking out of my cell.

All the women in my pod were making their way out of their cells as well. My cell was located on the second floor of our pod, so I had to make my way down the stairs so that I could get to the dining tables.

All of the other woman went to go stand in the line where the CO had the cart that held the trays of food on them. I passed by the line and continued walking to the lone table at the back that I have been sitting at for the past five years.

I didn't want anything to eat. I wasn't really hungry. I've been having butterflies in my stomach all week. The fact that all of this was gonna be over, kept me going. It kept my spirits high, and it kept me from falling even deeper into my own depression and despair.

I let out a relieved sigh and smiled to myself. It was almost over. My freedom was so close I could taste it. Maybe that I why I wasn't hungry.

I laughed at my own little joke, but quickly stopped when I felt the table wiggle just a bit from someone sitting down a little too hard in the seat.

" Watchu over here laughin' at? Snitchin ass bitches should never laugh." Brown suga, the self proclaimed pod boss said to me.

My heart started racing. I had been here long enough to know that when Brown suga approaches you herself instead of sending her minions, that mean shit is serious, and trouble isn't far behind. Especially when something as serious as snitching is brought up into the mix.

But I had no earthly idea of what she was talking about. I didn't snitch on anyone for any thing ever, since I've been in this prison.

" Snitching? I'm sorry but I don't understand. I haven't snitch on anyone for anything. I don't even know anyone's business to be able to do that." I told her.
