Chapter 58: of Love and Friendship

"Sure is chilly today" I whispered to myself as I felt a light cool breeze coming from the classroom's window. It's not really unusual for an early November morning, but the forecast did say it will be hot and humid today. I guess I better enjoy the coolness while I still can, especially na wala pa ang mga teachers, as it looks like they are not yet done with their emergency meeting with the principal

"Gav, letter A ba un inanswer mo dito?" Velle poked my shoulder with her pen to get my attention. I turned around from my seat and shifted my gaze to her desk. Looks like she is working on the questionaires given by our homeroom adviser last month

I take a closer look to what she is referring to before answering "B ung inanswer ko jan Velle, pero ikaw, depende sayo. Wala namang tama o mali na sagot. Alam ko si Xi, D ang inanswer jan"

"Talaga ba?" and she considered my answer thoughtfully before resuming back to her work

I watched her for a few more moments before I shifted to my seat to stretch and recline, hands cradling the back of my head in relaxation. Or atleast I am trying to

"Wala pa din si ma'am?" Xi motioned to Jasper questioningly as she entered the room, Cass just right beside her. The latter and I made brief eye contact before I exhaled to sit up straight as I once again pushed these odd feelings aside that has been haunting me for quite some time now

Jasper popped a candy in his mouth before answering "Wala pa, lumabas na nga sina Astrid para kumuha ng update kung maglibrary research nalang ba tayo o free time"

Xi nodded understandingly as my eyes linger on her. It has been a few months since she and Velle officially become a couple, and as expected, my classmates along with pretty much the majority of the school's population has already got wind of the news. Not that the two were trying to hide it anyway, dahil hindi naman nila yun sinisikreto. Hindi nila yun tinatanggi kapag may nagtatanong, pero hindi din naman nila pinagsisigawan. Their vibe as a couple is as normal and as natural as the next person answering what they want for lunch. Siguro kasi both their families know, so it is not that big of a deal sakanila

The only thing abnormal for me that came up as a result of this relationship - is that Velle is actually talking to her potential suitors instead of punching them. Unbelievable as it is, the daughter of hell has been quite the diplomat these past months. Aside from being level headed, she would also always make it a point to stress sa mga nagpapakita ng motibo sakaniya na sila na ni Xi, thinking na it will drive them away kasi nga taken na siya

I internally chukled at the memory, as quite the opposite actually happened. Dahil mas dumami pa lalo ung naging manliligaw niya. It looks like the guys saw this as a glimmer of hope that the spawn of Satan is actually capable of loving, they just need to bring their A game to charm her. This nauseating display of affection pissed Velle off so bad that Jasper had to bring extra set of pencils regularly because she kept pulverizing his. The horde of suitors were also so bad the first few weeks that Mommy just decided to drop us off sa likod na gate ng school para lang malimitahan ung nakakakita sa amin before the flag ceremony

Si Xi naman, does not mind this sudden surge of suitor at all, nor does she take it as an insult. Bukod sa tatawa tawa lang to, pinagsasabihan pa din nga niya si Velle about manners kapag pinipirapiraso niya ung mga sulat at regalo na bigay sakaniya sa harap mismo nun nagbigay

I glanced back to look at Velle over my shoulder. Hindi ko alam kung naaaning lang ako, pero something is really just not sitting right with me. Kaya siguro ganito ang nararamdaman ko, because aside from that abnormality as I call it, it has been quiet, too quiet for my liking. It's like the calm before an impending storm. I am not saying na naghahanap ako ng gulo, pero dalawang buwan na kasing hindi naguiguidance tong anak ni Satanas. Dalawang buwan! Dalawa! Ultimo si Ms. Luisa at Sister Agnes kinakamusta na siya sa amin. So who can blame me for being this uneasy?
