The Joy That Children Bring

An overwhelming sense of joy just wrapped around my waist,
She ran up to me with a cheerful haste and loving gaze.
She yelled my name-''mommy!' To the top of her lungs,
And made sure to give me the biggest, tightest hug.

With a soft and happy look I glanced down to my right,
And there she was, so small, not even reaching my thigh.
The child which I love, who helps with all of the burdens I bear,
The child I love who'll never send me anything harsher than a playful glare.

She's my light at the end of the tunnel of hate
the one that makes me run out of it with a haste.
She makes me believe in myself more than I ever thought I should,
And helps me do things I never thought I would.

She smiles at me and babbles about random two year old toddler stuff,
And fills the house with joy and love.

She makes me smile and my world turn bright,
she's the reason I stand up and fight.
My world is no longer a dullish grey,
but a wonderful pop that makes me wish for longer days.

Life isn't a drag, no, not anymore,
because there's never a sad moment, not with her.
