Chapter33: Another sort of Catfish

Start from the beginning

Shrugging his shoulders, keeping the same smile, handing my phone back to me as he got up from the seat, "Well, whatever you're planning to do today, good luck, Jennifer."

Returning the smile back to him, watching him go back to his seat before going back to listening to my music. Watching the sun rise, the sky turn from golden to red before slowly becoming blue, enjoying this moment of calmness and peace while I still had it.
After a few more minutes of driving, the bus has stopped in front of the centre, being early and on time before the competition starts.

We were the first dance group early, once the competition, the duets and trio dance groups were dancing when I was busy stretching in the dressing room. That's when Haylie and Rebecca walked through the door after they knocked, "Hey sis, we are here!!"

"Hey, glad you guys could make it." I said while hugging them, more than happy to see them here. Wishing that I was back on the bus, enjoying the sun raise again, because that calm and relax Janna flew out of the window after watching the first trio dance group from Chicago who were off the charts. "I'm kinda panicking a little bit."

Haylie actually flew over from Seattle right after hearing that I got to do to a solo at Spotlight, Wednesday night I had to give in full detail about how this all happen and the new choreography that I've worked after what happened the day before.

And my cousin, being my cousin appointed herself to be my hair and makeup artist with no argument.
Rebecca, along with my family could make it today, has asked for an off day just to support me which always makes me feel even more excited to dance.

And appointing herself to be my stylist when it wasn't necessary at all, because I would have handle my clothes very well.

"Panicking over, what?" Haylie asked, making me sound like I was being dramatic which I'll admit I'd sounded a little bit like I was. Having me sit down in the one of the spinning chair, Haylie started styling my hair while Becca hang up the cloth bag were my outfit was sitting in.

I was basically wearing a white rode that was covering the black strapless bra and bikini underwear since I nearly ripped the clothes that I was wearing before after coming off the stage. "Everything is gonna be great, besides you're doing something bold today."

"Haylie got a point, sis." Becca agreed with Haylie as she started making curls with the curling iron that I put on at least three minutes before they came. Opening the cream white bag to reveal the red and green luau outfit that Grandma had made for me last year Christmas.

A red strapless halter top with a green hula skirt, green wrists and ankle garland. "You're doing something that would make Mom really proud of you, just as much as Dad is."

I couldn't keep details away from my family, especially when I need a lot of their help today. Today I was doing something that Mom had done when I was nine years old, expect I won't be performing the hula dance that I've done that time.
Since Tuesday until Friday, I've been creating a hula choreography that represent my culture and the tribe that my Dad's family's from.

I'm taking the bold step that Mom took when she taught Heartbeat Studio hula dancing alongside Grandma and doing one at the most highest and respected dance competition. Mom always dreamt of doing this at a competition like Spotlight or at least hope that someone would be brave enough to perform a hula dance.

Despite being an African American, Mom had a soft spot for Hawaiian culture and tradition, even before meeting Dad, she always would do research on Hawaii.

After Haylie finished with the soft curls that she made, she and Becca helped me get dress before making my posture for them as they took pictures of me in my outfit.
I kept on my ankle length uggs which I would take off before going on stage. When I open the dressing door, the male soloist were dancing right now as I stepping out of the room.
