L/n: Your last name
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Y/n's POV
I stumbled as I ran down the stairs but managed to catch my balance last second as I vaulted over the railing. I yelped as I realized that the two men running behind me turned into four and my run turned into a hard sprint.
Looking back and forth between the men chasing me and the path in front of me, I got distracted when I felt a buzzing in my pocket. I quickly slid out my phone, answering the call while trying not to pant into the speaker.
"Ms. L/n, I'm parked on 5th Avenue like you asked. Where are you?"
"Hey C/n, I'll be there in a sec'. I'm just in a umm— situation."
"Are you running right now Ms. L/n?"
"Mr. C/n," I couldn't help but grin as I mocked him, "I'm just taking a nice morning jog."
"It's past midnight."
"Exactly, almost morning. OH SHIT!"
I barely sidestepped a woman who was walking her dog (who the fuck walks their dog at one in the morning?) and ran straight into a black SUV, almost accidentally flattening myself against it.
I looked into the windshield and gave a little finger wave to C/n, who did not look amused, before quickly jumping off and getting into the passenger side. He quickly pulled away from the road and continuously glanced at the rearview mirror.
"Put on your seat belt," he ordered.
I rolled my eyes but complied.
"Umm C/n, do you mind ignoring some of the speed limits?"
He stiffly nodded, increasing his speed. He gave me a sideways glance, "Are you injured?"
"Of course not," I bragged.
"Are you gonna tell me why you were being chased?"
"No sir."
He hummed in reply but did a good job of hiding his annoyance. He'd be able to find out on his own anyway, I'm only delaying it a bit by not telling him. He's just so strict sometimes! Thankfully, C/n is a terrific bodyguard so we were able to lose the men chasing us.
"Wooh nice C/n!" I reached out my hand to give him a fist bump which he returned with some hesitance.
"Your dad will probably want you home now."
"Yeah, I know. Are you gonna have breakfast with me?" I asked hopefully.
He glanced at his watch before nodding a yes. I wonder if he's so stiff because of that suit they make him wear. If I asked him that though, he'd just glare at me, so I'll keep that theory to myself.
"Perfect I'll make pancakes and we can give the cooks a day off!"
"That's nice of you," C/n entered the code for the gate.
I waved my hand nonchalantly, "Eh, they deserve it. Don't go thinking I'm so nice though because I'm not giving you any time off."
I felt slightly proud when I saw the small smile slip onto his face at my statement. His normal blank expression quickly returned though, and I almost rolled my eyes again.
Once we walked into the living room a loud yawn escaped me, "Thanks for your help C/n. I'm gonna go to sleep, can you wake me up at 7?"
"Of course," he replied.
"Alright make sure you get some sleep too!"
I ran up the stairs and flopped onto my bed, sleeping like a rock as soon as my head hit the pillow. It felt like only minutes passed when I heard C/n's stoic voice.
"Ms. L/n wake up," I groaned and flopped over on my bed before he repeated himself. "Ms. L/n it's time to wake up."
Another groan left my mouth and I refused to let the bright lights bother me as I buried my face further into my pillow.
"Y/n get up."
I rolled over on my back and opened my eyes with a smile, "You said my name!"
C/n rolled his eyes (that's still my thing though, not his) before he reacted, "It's the only thing I thought would get your attention."
I grinned cheerfully, "Well, it worked!"
I stumbled down the stairs as C/n followed behind me, much more graceful in his movements than my half-asleep self. Once we got into the kitchen I started pulling out ingredients for the pancakes.
"Do you like blueberry pancakes C/n?" I asked as I started cracking the eggs into a bowl.
I received no answer so I turned around towards where he was last sitting, which was on the chairs at the counter. I couldn't help but giggle when I saw him.
I pulled out my phone and took a couple of pictures of the sleeping C/n. He had his arms crossed on his chest but they were clearly much looser than his usual stiff position. His head was leaning down and his body was slumped. He looked so adorable which is definitely a rare occurrence since he tries so hard to be the opposite.
I continued making the pancakes, trying to limit the amount of noise I made but it looked like C/n was completely passed out. Good, he needs the sleep.
Once I finished the pancakes, I stacked them on a plate and placed them on the counter. I observed C/n, who was still dozing away, and contemplated what to do.
I poked his cheek, "C/n, the pancakes are ready."
He didn't even budge so I poked him harder, but still nothing.
So then, I started rapidly poking, "C/n wake up."
Suddenly I felt a hand wrap around my wrist and when I looked C/n in the eyes, I found his were wide open.
We stared at each other, the moment of silence stretching as the air thickened.
"You're awake," I whispered with an innocent smile.
"Yeah, only because someone kept poking my face," he grumbled.
I grinned mischievously, "You're cute when you sleep."
He turned toward me, parallel with the counter, and pulled me to his body so that I was between his legs as he put my arms over his shoulders.
"You're cute all the damn time and it makes it real fucking hard to do my job. Especially since I got super lucky getting to be the bodyguard of a girl who goes out of her way to be chased by angry people," he said sarcastically.
I laughed and leaned closer, "I'm only so confident because I know you're around."
"Your parents wouldn't be so happy hearing about what you're up to and they're the ones that give me my job."
I put my forehead against his, our noses almost touching,
"That's why they hired you. I trust you with my life."
He groaned, "You know us being involved would make your parents fire me."
"Who said anyone had to find out," I replied nonchalantly.
I leaned in further and slowly pressed a kiss to his lips. When I pulled back I noticed his arms had circled my waist, pushing me firmly against him.
"You'll be the death of me," he sighed.
"Nah don't worry. As long as I protect you, you can protect me right?"
"Your parents would just hire a new bodyguard if I died," he stated bluntly.
"C/n! You're ruining the moment," I whined.
He finally laughed before tightly hugging me, his face in my shoulder. I felt him lightly kiss the side of my head.
"Just promise me you won't go looking for danger as often. I can only have one heart attack a day, ok?"
I ran my fingers through his hair as I tried to stifle my laugh, "Ok, I'll try."
