From Zero To Hero Part Two: There And Back Again [COMPLETED]

Chapter 4: The Plague

"It's been nine hours since we've been attacked. Aren't you tired?" Ben groans.

"Dude, if you want to find your brother immediately then quit resting," Autumn rolls her eyes.

"Although I am a bit tired too, sis," Fif sits down.

"Fine. We rest for four hours and we continue the journey," Autumn sets out a camp.

The trio set up a camp inside a half sunken building, giving them both comfort and protection from enemies.

"Aren't you, guys worried about the sandstorms?" Ben asked.

"The storms ain't the scariest threat in the Wastelands," Fif said.

"Then what is it?" Ben eats marshmallows.

"It's the Plague," Autumn chews.

"What kind of plague? Famine?" Ben guessed.

"No. Not that kind of plague," Fif says.

"The Plague is a person in the Wastelands, who killed for resources no matter who his victim was. Either a child or a pregnant woman. He will not hesitate. He's very desperate to survive. He's a monster, who everyone fears in the Wastelands," Autumn explained.

"Sounds like a horror villain," Ben says.

"He's a plague to the remaining humans here," Fif describes the Plague.

"Have you ever encountered the Plague?" Ben asked.

"Yeah. Just once. However he left me a reminder on my body," Autumn shows a wound on her neck.

"Autumn almost died. In fact, we almost died when we encountered him. Luckily I used tear gas to escape his clutches," Fif explained.

"If he's so dangerous, where's that beast?" Ben wondering the whereabouts of the Plague.

"He just mysteriously disappeared last year," Fif says.

"People say that the Plague killed himself. Others say he was pulled down to Hell," Autumn notes.

"Neither of those I believe. What I believe is that the Plague continues his hunt...but with more stealth and precision," Autumn frightens the boys.

The trio spent the four hours, sleeping and continued their journey as soon as they recovered.

"How long do you think this journey will take?" Arlie asked Leiar.

"I guess one to two days?" Leiar guessed.

"This satellite is the tallest building here even if it's almost sunken," Leiar explained.

"And it's twenty miles from here but we'll be taking my truck," Leiar added.

"We can contact both Ben and your children there once we reach it," Arlie exclaims.

"Don't get too excited, kid. We still have a long way to go," Leiar smiles at Arlie.

As they exist the bunker, Leiar gives Arlie a long dagger for his own safety. Arlie is surprised when he sees Leiar all geared up.

"Why do you have lots of military graded equipment?" Arlie asks.

"In this world, you never know what to expect," Leiar responded.

Beginning their journey at night, Arlie and Leiar encounter an armored soldier.

"Get behind me," Leiar warns Arlie.

"Why?" Arlie quietly asked.

"It's the Plague," Leiar mumbles.

"Who?" Arlie replies.

The Plague suddenly engages Leiar into a knife battle. Leiar struggles to fight Plague for he was protecting Arlie at the same time. Arlie, tired of hiding joins the fight and throws the dagger straight into Plague but their enemy catches it, throwing it back to Arlie. The dagger almost got to Arlie if it wasn't for Leiar, who caught it in time.

"What the hell?" Arlie exclaimed in fear.

"Get into the truck! Go!" Leiar ordered as he held off Plague.

 Arlie runs to the truck, starts it and rams it to Plague, rescuing Leiar.

"Drive!" Leiar shouted.

"Who was that?" Arlie looked back at the truck.

"That was the Plague," Leiar breathes intensely.

"Why was he trying to kill us?" Arlie asked.

"Like I told you: people in the Wastelands will do anything to survive," Leiar stated.

"Here's your dagger," Leiar hands the dagger over to Arlie.

"Be careful with it next time," Leiar says.

The duo drive into the city, nearing to satellite tower. In the other side of the city, Ben, Fif, and Autumn continue their journey through the sunken city. Frightened by story of the Plague, Ben held his weapon close to him, making the twins laugh. While both Arlie and Ben were in opposite sides, each were still positive that their brother is still alive and well.
