Hello, hello, hello! Yes, I am back, after a decade long "editing" hiatus, I am back. This chapter is pretty long, sitting at almost 4k words, but I suppose it makes up for the lost time. Hopefully this is enough to redeem myself of empty promises about the release date 😅

i am so sorry about all of that, i've been so busy and just not feeling it at all but now it's done! i contemplated waiting to publish this but you've waited long enough so i published it as soon as i finished it- and proof read it of course. Like always, i hope you enjoy!

You had been sailing with Captain Jack Sparrow for no less than a week when the two of you had gotten into an argument. If you remembered correctly it was because Jack was very clearly out of touch with his emotions, emotionally unavailable much? Let's emphasise.

~ 3 weeks prior, The Black Pearl, Day ~

"Starboard or port- Cap'n?" Gibbs shouted from the deck. "The crew want to know what they're in for!"

As you were mending a rope nearby, you hear Jack groan at the wheel.

"...starboard?" Jack answers.

"Ye sure 'bout that?" Gibbs replied.

"Port!" Jack exclaims confidently as you move to the opposite side of the ship to grab a sharp sword.

Gibbs frowns as you cross back over to the top which you were about to sever.

"No! Starboard!" Jack corrects himself. As Jack states more than perplexed at his compass Gibbs calls out to you.

"Miss Swann- won't ye walk straight ahead to the front of the Captain?"

You raise an eyebrow but follow through with the request and you walk all the way to stand at the front of the ship, directly ahead of Jack.

"AH! STRAIGHT AHEAD!" Jack exclaims clearly pleased with himself.

Gibbs internally facepalms. "Right- Y/n, you can come back now!"

You jog over to Gibbs and as he gets there he strides up the stairs right over to Jack now trying to work out why the bearing is not longer straight ahead when he was so sure it was.

"Captain- I believe you are confused. You seem to not know what you want."

"That's nonsense- of course I know what I want! The treasure!"

Gibbs pats Jack Sparrow on the shoulder lightly. "Jack- it appears that's not what you want right now."

You lean against the Starboard side of the ship. Gibbs gestures to Jack's compass and Jack looks down. Jack Sparrow's gaze slowly follows the direction of the compass until he locks eyes with you. Gibbs covers up his smirk with a cough. You return the eye contact unsure of what's going on.

Jack shakes his head. "That's not right." He mumbles.

You walk over to the two men.

"What's not right?"

"Jack can't figure out what he wants. Seems there's a tad of an interference if ye will." Gibbs wiggles his eyebrows at you slightly.

Jack scoffs. "Why would I want Y/n?"

Your face breaks into a frown as you feel all the warmth in your body drain.
