Daily 10-A Beginning (TewDay)-Part 2

Day's turn to be confused now. "But P, I don't get it. You just told me that you feel something more than friends with me but you want us to remain the same we are now? Are you saying you are fine with me just treating you as a friend but you treat me more than a friend?"

"In short, yes," Tew said. This time he patted Day on the head. Something that Day recently realize Tew do, a lot. Especially when Day gave answers that he expected. Day couldn't believe he even noticed that.

"Why?" Day asked, his feelings definitely mixed now.

"Because I don't want you to force yourself to change how you feel about me. If you love me as a best friend and that love stops there, I will respect that. I just hope you don't mind me loving you more than that," Tew said.

Loving your more than that. Each word rang for Day. Tew, loves him.

"How is that fair?" Day asked after a while. He observed as Tew try to find his own words to form his answer. It took Tew a while but finally he said, "I think it's fair putting effort to love you just  because I want to,"

"Tew....," Day whispered his name but Tew didn't seem to catch it.

"Of course it would be great if you feel the same but at this moment, I am content with how things are. It's ok Day," Tew said with a smile, flashing his pearly teeth, his eyes folding into crescent moon shape. Why to Day, Tew doesn't seem all happy. 

"What if...the moment you want never arrives?"

"Then I would have been happy to just get the chance to love you,"

This is Tew then. Never one to really assert himself or his opinions on Day. The last time he was even this forceful was when he was a senior in the hazing team. Ever since they became friends, Tew was only patient, kind and encouraging to whatever Day was unwilling to feel or do. Day knew as long as he never mention anything beyond friendship, they will be friends forever. Day knew he can count on Tew no matter what.

But for Day...

"Tew, give me time after my exams is done to think about this,"

"Huh?"

"Since you are being truthful to me, then I'll be too. I like you as my close friend a lot more than I think. I enjoy doing everything with you and I appreciate you being with me when I needed you. It's just...I think I am also catching myself thinking about you...,"

Teh's face beamed up with happiness, "Really? Does that means you-,"

"Not sure,"

"But you asking for time, that means, you are thinking about me more than a friend right?"

"The possibility is there but I don't know for sure. I just didn't want to waste your time either after you saying everything you said. So if that is ok with you, I would like to think about how our relationship can be too," Day said. This time Tew took both his hand into his and squeezed them gently again, the squeeze felt like the usual encouragement from Tew. It felt warm to Day and made him feel like, thinking about his feelings would not be that bad after all. 

"Thank you Day. I am so happy you said you will consider the possibility of us," 

The possibility of us. 

Sounded pretty nice to Day. Maybe. 

"Then I think I should get going then," Tew said, letting go of his hands, the warmth disappearing around his hands became more apparent to Day now. Tew got up and pushed the bowl of noodle to Day. "Now eat," 

"Aren't you going to stay for the night as usual? It's past midnight now...," Day asked. Him himself asking for Tew to stay would be the first. Usually it was Tew asking and Day agreeing. Tew smiled and ruffled Day's hair a little. 

"If we didn't have this conversation tonight, I could have stayed but now we did and you having exams starting tomorrow, I don't want to be around to distract your thoughts anymore, less you reduce the possibility of us," 

Day's stood up as fast before he could stop himself and blurted, "It wouldn't!" 

"I mean, I can separate exams and everything else," Day looked away. Anything but Tew's face. Tew smiled hearing Day's words. It is enough for him tonight. He went nearer to Day's ear area. 

"It's ok. After your exams, I'll put in my full force to woo you," Tew thought the color on Day's face changed. A blushing Day is a cute Day any time. Too bad he couldn't go on with his teasing for the night so with a last pat on Day's shoulder, he promptly left the apartment and closed the door behind him. 

Only after Tew's left and Day heard the door clicked shut that he let himself fell back down his seat. He stared at Tew's bowl of chicken noodle and wrapped his hands around it to feel the warmth. The noodle is getting lukewarm now. He recalled Tew's bigger pair of hands wrapping his own pair of hands. That felt warmer than the bowl of noodle but at the moment he has to make do with this bowl of noodle. Day took his own utensils but then stopped. Instead he picked up the fork Tew used and began to eat his second serving of noodles. 

Day promised himself as he slurped the noodles, he would think about them properly after the exams.

Yukichi's Note: I went for my vaccine jab last Friday. I never had a fever in years but the night I got my vaccine, I went through freezing cold and burning hot consecutively and I had muscle sores since then until now. Side effects aren't jokes really so take care everyone!
