"What did you just say?" he said while scrunching his eyebrows.
"Are you deaf? I said NO!"
I could see his cold dark blue eyes fill with anger. He is downright furious now. But if he thinks that his anger is going to stop me and make me leave these kids and my friends then he is Highly Mistaken.
"I WILL NOT allow my kid's to call anyone mom or mommy. They don't need a mother. I raised my kids all these years BY MYSELF! Their mother was not there when they used to cry all night , I was there. I will not let them emotionally get attached to someone who will never be in their life.They have their family , they don't anyone else.I refuse anyone to hurt them."
I was SHOCKED....That's all I could think. Behind all this anger, rage ,frustration ..there is Pain. This Pain is consuming him and clouding his judgements. It has over-powered him so much that he likes to live inside a small bubble and does not let anyone enter that bubble.Due to that one woman in his life, he doubts everyone else and expects everyone to leave him. But he really under-estimates me.
"Are you done now? Taken it off your chest? " I asked him. He looked at me like I was talking some non-sense.
"Now listen to me. DON'T. EVER . COMPARE .ME .TO. HER! She is lucky that she never got to meet me when she left those wonderful kids and hurt everyone. And get these words inside that thick skull of yours, that I will never leave or hurt them emotionally,ever. I will not leave until and unless your kids tell me to leave on their own! and if they do, I will leave without even a single word. With every passing day, I grew up to love those kids and your family. All these years, I have only cared about my dad and my brother but now I have more people in my life that I care about. I will do anything for them. Sophie, Carol,Susan, Ellie , even Andrew! Even though he does everything in his power to push me away but he is also stuck with me.There's nothing in this world that I won't do for him. I know that I am not going to be there for them every time but I will not try to leave them like their mother did." I yelled at him.
Daniel stood there shocked, not believing what I just said. And I don't blame him, even I shocked myself. I didn't know until today how much I cared for everyone in this family, till Daniel threatened to make me leave.
"And Daniel you are wrong about one thing. Everyone needs a mother or someone like one. Cause I sure do need mine....You more than anyone should know that too. But I will talk to sophie tomorrow and I will make sure that it doesn't happen again." I continued.
With that I went straight to my room and locked my door.

I heard sophie crying, so I headed to her room but before I could enter I saw Rachel humming a tune to her so I stopped right outside her room. I waited for a few minutes outside seeing my little sister finally falling to a peaceful sleep. As I was about to leave I heard Sophie call Rachel as 'Mommy'. I left from there as soon as I heard that.
I took a deep breath trying to push away all memories with mom,but they were resurfacing. I was very close to her, I never thought that she would leave us. Although it was not sudden, we knew that she was changing, but the heart-break was inescapable. Dad used to be busy in company while mom would bring strangers home who would beat me for random things. Sophie was just 2 Years old but I understood everything.I was scared to tell dad because she would threaten to leave us if dad came to know. But eventually dad noticed bruises all over my body and when he asked I made up excuses so that mom would not leave us.
My dad was so blindly in love with her that he believed whatever she said, he never even questioned her. But one day all this changed, he came early from work to surprise us and saw a guy beating me while mom was high on drugs laying in another corner completely unbothered by what was happening to her son. That was the day when I saw my father completely changed from a sweet, kind, completely in love to a very cold,distant and a broken man ,that he is today. He tried changing her ,tried to help her through her addiction. She even agreed to him, but little did we know at that time that she was cheating on dad all the time. My dad completely broke after all this...and as for me...I hated my mom, I hated the woman who I used to love once. After she was caught, she just left us....like we never existed in her life.
I couldn't help but smile at Sophie's words. She has always liked Rachel. Whereas I....umm..I didn't think she was bad. I never tried to bond with her like sophie did, I have always kept my distance from her.I don't want to repeat what happened with my mom.
I heard voices coming from the hallway so I hid behind the closest door and heard dad and Rachel arguing. He was telling her to leave. But Why??!!
"Even Andrew!! Even though he does everything in his power to push me away but he is also stuck with me.There's nothing in this world that I won't do for him. I know that I am not going to be there for them every time but I will not try to leave them like their mother did." Rachel yelled at dad.
Wow!! I knew that she cared about sophie but I never knew that she felt the same way for me. I never expected her say that. I couldn't help but smile. All this time I tried hard for her to hate me so that she would stay away from me, but I didn't know that she would still care. After what happened with mom....after all those years....I am feeling...... loved.
