"Cristina was supposed to fly out with us this morning, and she didn't show." Meredith said over the phone to Derek. Cristina hadn't won the Harper Avery, it had gone to some other guy who according to Meredith 'was a total half wit'. If we're being honest it sounded like Mer was more pissed about it than Cristina was, which wasn't surprising.

As Meredith and Derek had their conversation, Abigail was playing with Zola. She had the day off today, she had wanted to spend some time with the kids instead of sending them to daycare like every other day of the week.

"Uh, I'll call you when we land." Them just as Meredith hung up to doorbell rang. "I got it." Abigail said whilst taking Bailey out of Dereks arms. "Go get ready." She ushered him away with a wave of her hand. He shot her a thankful glance as he jogged back to his room.

Abigail walked over to the door, and when she opened it she froze. Stood there was this gorgeous woman, with dark brown hair and blue eyes. Abigail couldn't help but stare at her. As the two locked eyes there was a comfortable silence until. "Amy?"

The two pulled their eyes away from each other's as Derek walked over. "Uh so-sorry come in." Abigail stuttered as she moved over to the side for the woman to walk through.

"I should have called I know. But if I'd have called you would've said no and then I wouldn't get to see how grown up you are. Zola! Wow. Look at you, what are you, like 16 now? And I wanted to meet my nephew."

Damn does she breathe.

"Umm... hello to you too. I haven't talked to you in months. Amy what are you doing here?"

"A... thing happened. James proposed." The woman exclaimed holding up her left hand, on which an engagement ring sat. Abby still stood, with Bailey in her arms, watching the two infront of her talk.

"Ah. Congratulations."

"And I freaked."

"I'm sure you did." Derek's airy chuckle caused Abby to let one out too.

"Just sort of freaked, not - not flee the country freaked. Just - suddenly there's the possibility that I may be facing a different kind of life. The kind you and Meredith have - so I thought I would come visit, and see what it's like. And get unfreaked. Hopefully. You're mad." She said with a slight grimace.

"No I'm happy to show you. Hey, Zola, Aunty Amy and Aunty Abby are gonna play with you and Bailey today, while I go to work." Derek's smirk was almost impossibly to notice, he was enjoying throwing whoever this was into the deep end.

"Oh... Wow really not mad."

"I'm excited. Abby knows what she's doing." He said flailing his had in my general direction.

"Oh okay."

"I'll see you later." Derek had left the house like he couldn't get out quick enough. The two women just stood in an extremely awkward silence, just looking at each other. Abigail had to admit, the woman stood before her was incredibly good looking. She couldn't help but feel a slight attraction, but she also couldn't help the blush that crept onto her face when she was caught staring.

"Umm.. hi I'm Abigail, Abby. I'm Merediths sister." She stuttered out, cursing herself for sounding so awkward.

"Amelia, I'm Derek's sister." The two still stood in a complete silence.

Abby and Amelia were now sat around a very small, bright pink, table. Each with a plastic cup in hand, while Zola poured pretend tea into them. "Thank you Zo-Zo" Abby said raising her cup before brining it to her lips.

Just out of the corner of her eyes, she saw Amelia staring at her, with what seemed to be a look of awe painted across her face. And when she realised Abigail had seen her, she turned a light shade of pink before quickly averting her gaze.

They had only been in the house together for an hour or so, not really having spoken much before Zola demanded to play princess tea party. "So, what's your specialty?" Amelia asked interesting Zolas babbling.

Abigail quirked an eyebrow at the woman, "How did you know I'm a surgeon." Abby hadn't mentioned anything to do with work and neither had Derek.

"Well, first off you're a Grey, chances are you're a surgeon. Second, your hands. They're steady, extremely steady, like I don't think I've seen them wobble a millimeter." She trailed off as she realised she had just admitted that she was staring at her hands, which of course Abby had noticed, and smirked lowly to herself.

She let out an airy chuckle and she nodded slightly. "Observant. Neuro, you?"

"Same. Gonna be honest, I thought you might have gone into general, like your mother... and your sister."

Abby gave her a small smile. "Didn't want to live in their shadows, the last name does that enough. Besides there's just something about Neuro. The delicate nature of it all and the brains complexity, just always enticed me. I was never meant for general."

Amelia raised her hands in surrender. "Hey, I completely understand. So, are you from around here?"

"Yeah, I was born in Seattle, but moved to Boston. I made a life there, had a job a wife, hell I even had a fish or two over the years." Both girls let out low laughs, Abiagil didn't fail to notice Amelias reaction when she said she had a wife instead of a husband.

"But I couldn't stay there. I couldn't bare it. So I came to see Mer, and until I find a place I'm crashing here. I got a job at Grey Sloan, so things are starting to look up."

"Why couldn't you stay?"

"Someone close to me died. I had to get out of there, it just felt so... I guess lonely without her."

"Your wife?" She asked her voice dripping with empathy. Abigial just sheepishly nodded, clearly upset by the direction the conversation had gone. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have asked."

"Don't worry about it, I have to talk about it eventually. May as well get used to it. I miss her but people die, we all know that. She left too early but the point is she did die and now I get to deal with it. But, yeah, don't worry. You didn't know."

Just before either woman could speak, Bailey started fussing from his nap. Abby got up to go get him, but Amelia placed her hand on the others arm before getting up herself to go get the crying baby.

Amelias hand remained on Abbys arm for longer than it probably should have, the two feeling oddly comfortable in each others presence, to say they'd only known each other for a few hours.

Once Amelia came back with Bailey she sat down again and the two continued talking all throughout the day. Amelia had opened up about her addiction and her fathers death. They even spoke about her fiancé, of whom Abby felt slight resentment towards. Even though she had never met the mad.

Was it resentment or just jealousy? It was stupid to say they had only just met, but they had a connection that neither one could deny.
