The sun poured through the window. Another day had dawned bringing new hopes, opportunities and aspirations. The first rays of sunlight lit the room bringing warmth and melodic bird sounds drifted into the room waking the sleeping beauty from her dreams.
Slowly getting up from bed still with closed eyes she managed her way to the bathroom to begin her morning routine. Then a sudden thought hit her making her wide awake.
Today is her 26 th birthday. And she had made plans to celebrate her birthday with her family at the restaurant at 10'o clock. With sudden realisation she rushed back into her room to find phone. She unlocked the phone and several missed call notifications from her mom, dad and brother popped out on the screen.
Restaurant is 1 hour away from her place and now it is already 9:40. She quickened her pace into bathroom to shower while calculating the time in her mind to reach there as fast as possible and what valid excuses she is going to give to her parents and the possible outcomes of her excuses.
Coming out of bathroom in robe she went to wardrobe to find the dress she bought especially for her birthday.
It is a short floral dress reaching up to knees. It is white just as snow, simple and classic with red colour flower design on left side and stopped at mid waist. Looking at the white dress she herself don't know why she bought white dress when her favorite is black. She closed her eyes remembering his words.
"You look beautiful and elegant as a princess in this white colored dress"
She scoffed at remembering his words. But then again why did she buy this colored dress? Is it to show him she still remembered his words though it has been 10 years. If this is her intention then what about him is he willing to look at her now?
She swiftly wore the dress, grabbed her purse, phone and speed out to her car. She got into the car and started the engine driving to the restaurant. One the way she picked up her phone and dialled her mom's number. To her surprise her mom picked her call at second ring.
"Yah!! Jo where are you? Do you even know what time it is now? How can u not pick up any calls or even call back"
"Mom seriously it's my birthday!! Why don't you wish me first"
"Haha!! Okay Happy Birthday baby"
"Thank you mamma, I am really sorry for keeping you guys waiting but you know I woke up late"
"Aish!! On the account today is your birthday I am not scolding you anymore"
"Thank you mom, love you"
"Love you tooo baby. Wait- are you speaking while driving??? Yah don't you know driving rules. How can you do that..come on now cut the call u girl"
" Mumma, you just said-- aish forget it bye see you soon"
She hang up the call and focused on driving.
