her eyes glossed over, as her gaze bore holes into the leather seats in front of her. the seats where he used to sit, telling her how much he loved her, making her feel giddy.

lies, she thought. every single one of them. he never loved her. if he did, he would never have done that to her.

now she realized why he never remembered her favourite flower. sorry i forget, he used to say. but in truth, he never cared. 

lilies, she told him, because that's your favourite too. she didn't realize why they were his favourite. that was until now.

she turned to look through the mist covered window, silhouettes of the green scottish landscape sweeping through. the dusk outside reminding her of the evening dates she went on with him.

the memories she held onto dearly played in front of her eyes as she sat in the compartment, alone.  

the very same compartment which not many months ago, was filled with happiness and warmth. which now was just as cold and lonely as the resident inside.
