They had to drive for ten minutes on a deserted dirt road to get to the resort, but when they got there, it was absolutely beautiful. It wasn't so much a resort as it was a bunch of miniature cabins, each of the two-story townhouses connected by their walls. The buildings were skinny with pointed roofs, each one identical to the ones beside it. They really did look like smaller versions of a typical cabin - built out of wooden logs and stone.

The only thing surrounding the buildings were dark green fir trees that seemed to stretch into the sky for miles. Sun peeked through their branches in golden beams of light that poured over them, illuminating the area even more.

They quickly checked in, got their key, and lugged their stuff into their room. Sage had packed both a duffel bag and a giant cooler with all the food that they would need over the weekend and it would have been nice to use a shrinking or lightening charm on them, but they were at a muggle resort so they had to refrain from using magic as much as they could. She only wished she'd thought of that before she'd loaded the cooler up with anything that they could have possibly needed. They each had grabbed a handle of it and had awkwardly carried it between the two of them, the hard plastic knocking into their legs with each step.

"Okay, this is it," she panted and dropped the cooler on their porch. "Number seven, right?".

"Yep," Fred said excitedly and took the key out of his pocket to open the door.

They left their bags on the front porch and entered the cabin to check it out, each of their eyes widening as they took in where they'd be staying for the next few days.

"Bloody hell," Fred murmured.

The room (was it even a room?) was the perfect size for two people. It was two stories tall, a small set of stairs leading up to the bedroom that looked over the lower level behind a railing. The entire back wall of the room was made of glass, the green of the forest outside offsetting all of the brown inside.

Downstairs, there was a small kitchen with an island and few stools, and to the side of that was a small living room that consisted of a couch, coffee table, and a television. Sage walked up the stairs to see the simple bedroom that just contained a king-sized, fluffy, white bed that looked unbelievably comfortable and a bathroom to the side of it. The ceiling was in the shape of the roof, the dark brown pillars that held it up exposed.

Sage walked back down the stairs and out the back door to see Fred already examining the hot tub with awe.

"I've never even seen one of these before," he murmured.

Sage laughed. "They're amazing."

Fred smiled and turned around to face her, looping his arms around her waist and pulling her into him.

"Happy late birthday," she said with a soft smile.

Fred quickly gave her a small peck on the nose. "How did you even afford this place? It's amazing."

"My grandma left me a bunch of money after she passed away last year. I didn't have much else to spend it on."

Fred's eyes widened. "You're grandma passed? How did I not know that? I'm so sorry," he said and hugged her tighter to him.

Sage chuckled. "It's fine, she was sick for a while. I didn't know her that well."

Fred shook his head. "Still. I can't believe you never told me. I feel like I should know this stuff," he said grumpily. Sage shrugged. "I'm going to find out everything about you this weekend. We are going to have all the deep talks and stuff."

Sage couldn't help but laugh at that, but she halted her laughter when she saw Fred frown. "Alright, we can have all the serious talks. I promise. For now, though, let's go get our stuff off the front porch."
