*ding dong
i jumped out of bed and shuffled to the front door.
my mom must have ordered another package.
for a woman that was never home she sure did need a lot of stuff.

i looked out the peephole but i didn't see anyone.
i unlocked the door and opened it, only to be startled by the boy standing to the side of the door.

"uhhh- hello"? i asked.
"hello". he said back bowing slightly.
what the hell-

"who are you"? i asked raising a brow and looking to make sure no one else was with him.
"student"? he seemed to ask.
"me"? i asked back confused.
...
his facial expression seemed completely lost.
i guess he didn't speak english too well.
but that raises the question.
why- is he on my porch.

"me"- he said back pulling a suitcase from behind him to show me.
wha-
"foreign change". he said.
"foreign exchange"? i asked back.

his face lit up and he nodded.
"YES"! he said back with a smile.
he was beyond cute.
there were hardly boys that looked like him around here.
maybe that's why i was so attracted to him.

"i don't think you're at the right place". i replied.
unless...
"do you know who's house you're staying at"? i questioned.
he tilted his head to the side and sighed.
"uhhh... chloe". he responded.

my eyes widened.
that was my moms name.
coincidence?
couldn't be.

i opened the door for him and he seemed relieved that i had finally let him in.
"how- did you get here"? i asked.
he looked at me for a second and put his hand to his face.
"taxi from airport, i spend all my money". he smirked.

...
i have literal butterflies.
this is something straight from a fanfiction.
i mean- i do read a lot to be fair.

he stopped at the door to take his shoes off.
AH-
"you're from japan"! i exclaimed.
"huh? yes how you know"? he asked back.
"you're taking off your shoes". i pointed.

he seemed to think for a second.
"a lot of china do this though". he said jokingly making a glaring face at me.
"oh-". i responded.
"i heard people in america... sometimes... they do this too". he followed.

his english was actually really good, for just getting here. i understood exactly what he meant.

"your house mansion". he smiled making a gesture with his hands.
i shook my head.
"not really". i smiled back.

suddenly the ringer on my phone startled me.
i took it out and saw it was my mom.
i answered it on speaker.

"babe whatcha doing"? she asked.
it sounded like she was in a car.
"um- well a foreign exchange student just appeared so"- i didn't know what else to say.

"ah- that's kageyama"! she said excitedly i could hear her hands clap together.
"i'm kageyama". the boy whispered happily.

i looked at him, it couldn't have been possible to look so good.

"well thanks for the heads up". i scoffed.
"just be nice to him and help him around school you already know what to do. he will use the guest room, tomorrow you go shopping with him and buy him
as much as he needs to be comfortable, shoes, clothes, decorations, anything he needs. use my card.". she seemed like she was in a rush.

"how long- is he gonna be here"? i asked.
"just for a semester". she said hurriedly.
hmm... 9 weeks huh.

"okay and"-
"babe i'm getting driven around venice just take care of it ok"? she stated.
italy?! how was she in italy already she was just in michigan.

"ONE MORE THING"! i said before she hung up.
"yes"? she asked.
"why- would you sign up for this".
"because you seemed lonely". she said back.

i heard her kiss the phone and then hang up.
i turned to see kageyama staring in awe.
wow even his name was different.

"you talk so fast". he said.
"we do"? i asked.
he nodded slightly.

well i guess i couldn't disagree.

"come, i'll show you your room". i said as he grabbed his suitcase and followed me down the hall.

he was really gonna go to school with me?
i was a senior so... does that mean he is too?

"big house"! he said repeating himself from earlier.
i laughed.
"you think so huh"? i mumbled.

the guest room was the room next to mine.
so atleast he wouldn't be far if he needed something.
"this is your room". i said opening the door.

"ahh- i like it". he said as he dragged his suitcase over the carpet and sat on the bed. looking around the interior.

"are you hungry"? i asked.
he thought- and then nodded.
"kk i'm gonna order some takeout".
he tilted his head.
"UH! not because you're japanese, i just love takeout food"! i said waving my hands.

"that's chinese". he stated back.
"well- ok i'm just gonna order it".
i said closing the door.
he made me so nervous.
i didn't want to say anything that offended him, and i didn't want to be annoying.

i'll just give him time to settle and relax.

i went to my room and sat on my bed.
i need to text kai about this.
kai was my best friend all of high school, he also happened to be from japan and speak fluent japanese.
i'm sure he could help a great deal with this.

oaktree- I AM SO EXCITED FOR THIS BOOK YOU DONT UNDERSTAND.
