It had taken me a second to get cleaned up before I walked into the meeting where Hodge stood using a table surrounded by the 3 shadowhunters plus Clary while they all watched a screen.
"Magnus Bane. He's over 300 years old. And, as you can see, he's not exactly shied away from the pleasures of every century. His tastes are both exquisite... and quite excessive." Hodge explains and as Jace spots me he smiles softly from where he stands as if he feels sorry for me
"He looks like the Downworld's David Guetta." I say and I watch as the other heads snap towards mine
"Guetta's already a Downworlder. Vampire? Ever seen him in the daylight?" Izzy says with a smirk and I shrug agreeing with her
"Can you two focus? This is not a joke." Alec says rolling his eyes over at Izzy and me
"Someone needs to gets slayed." Izzy says and I look at Alec before smirking
"More like laid" I state and Izzy High fives me from where she sits
"Alec's right. Now, Magnus is one of the most powerful warlocks I've ever known. He has a deep mistrust of Shadowhunters." Hodge says returning the mood back to serious and Clary sighs
"Well, then why did he help our moms remove our memories? Isn't my mother a Shadowhunter?" Clary asks and I didn't miss the fact that she hadn't called mine one. I guess in her dreams my mother did not have any runes.
"Yes, one of the best. But "help" might not be the most accurate word. Now, did Magnus provide a service for Jocelyn and her friend? Perhaps. But more than likely, your mothers paid Magnus handsomely for his magic." Hodge says looking between Clary and I
"Warlocks usually require payment before they help anyone with anything." Jace says as he finally sits down in between Alec and I
"Word from the Clave is that most of the warlocks have gone into hiding since Valentine began hunting them." Alec states and Hodge nods
"Valentine must be searching for the warlock, where did Jocelyn—" Hodge begin but then he hisses in pain and I watch as red circle glow around his neck
"Hodge, your rune. You okay?" Clary asks but then she sighs "So how do we find Magnus?" she asks and I almost laugh at the sudden change of her question
"We don't. Magnus finds us. We'll set up a meeting, somewhere protected. Lure him out of hiding." Jace states
"And I know exactly where we do it." Izzy smirks as she looks over at me suggestively and I shake my head as Izzy grabs the tablet from Hodge and swipes through some pictures. She stops at a VIP party for Downworlders.
"A Downworld rave. Nice, Izzy." Jace states proudly
"And where'd you get that?" Alec asks while Izzy rolls her eyes
"During my surveillance of the Downworlders. From what I hear, Magnus likes to party." she states but Alec just shakes his head
"He'll never go for it. Not with Valentine trying to kill him." Alec states glumly
"Of course he will. He'll blend in. Hide in plain sight." Jace says looking over at Alec
"Trust me. If Magnus is coming out of hiding, he's going to one of the biggest parties of the year." Izzy says and I smile I liked the idea of drinking for a bit
"Never underestimate Magnus' hedonism. Or his greed. Come with me." Hodge says as he walks away and we all follow I watch as Hodge activates a rune on a tile on the ground and moves the tile. A necklace with a red stone is hidden under it. Hodge picks it up.
"Is that real?" I ask looking at the gem in awe. It was something that in my lifetime I would never be able to afford
"A four-karat, unheated Burmese ruby. And this necklace has special meaning to Magnus Bane as it was a gift from him to his then lover, Camille Belcourt." Hodge states
"What, Camille and Magnus were lovers?" Clary asks with wide eyes
"Warlock gets around." Jace adds as if that was an explanation for everything
"Magnus bought it in 1857 for the price of his London townhouse. Now, the jewel is enchanted by a spell that alerts the wearer to the presence of demons." Hodge explains and I watch as Izzy takes the jewel.
"It's so beautiful." I state and she looks over at me with excited eyes
"Magnus has longed to reunite with this necklace. Offer it to him. He might just take the bait." Hodge says and Jace nods
"I'll send Magnus a fire message to arrange the meeting. We have to get to Magnus before Valentine does." Jace says before walking away.

I walked into Izzys room and I look at the dresses flung all over her bed.
"Jace said you wanted to see me?" I ask with a smirk already knowing that Izzy was trying to use me as her personal barbie doll
"That's right. What are you wearing to the Downworlder party tonight?" she asks and I look at myself up and down
"I don't know. I was just thinking about wearing this." I say and she covers her mouth as if she was laughing at me. I looked down at myself and wasn't surprised I looked like a Nike ad. I had Nike tights, a crop top and my hair tied up in a high ponytail
"I don't think so. No Downworlder would be caught dead in that. Plus, it's a party, not the olympics" she says and I laugh
"Well, I don't really have any party clothes with me, so..." I state and she nods with a smirk as if she was winning our game of chess
"So you'll have to wear mine, hmm?" she says holding up a tightskinned 2 piece crop top and mini skirt and I gasped grabbing it and looking at it in awe
"You realize, one of these days you're gonna have to tell me where and when" I say and she looks up at me confused
"Where and when what?" Izzy asks
"Where you get your spending money and... when you're letting me go to a store?" I say and she laughs
"Try these." Izzy says as she rushes me towards the change room to get changed and she throws a pair of shoes at me
"I don't know Izzy I feel like my boobs are popping out" I say as I walk out and she looks at me with wide eyes
"God you're lucky, such long legs" she states and I smirk over at her
"My foster Mom wanted me to be a victoria super model" I state with a laugh
"I could see that, Someone's looking badass." Jaces voice says from behind me and I almost blush when I see him looking at me through the mirror
"Oh, thanks." I state spinning around to look Jace up and down as he had his hair slicked back and was dressed in a tight black top and jeans as well damn I could droll over him for years. Izzy seemed to see this and wrapped her arm around me
"She cleans up well. I'm gonna go see Alec. He never knows what to wear to these parties either." she says looking over at Jace suggestively and I felt almost embarrassed as I could understand that look from a mile away. Izzy was telling Jace to make a move. I watch as she walks out before I catch Jace's eyes work their way up and down my body before he clears his throat as he knows he's been caught he plasters a smirk on his face
"At least you look the part of a Shadowhunter." he says and I smile but his face drops within the second "I guess it's pointless for me to ask you to stay behind, while I go meet Magnus by myself. Things could get sticky. Magnus is being hunted. You're gonna need a weapon." he states before he hands me a blade and I smile holding it up
"It's a seraph dagger." Jace says gripping my hands around it "The blade knows you. And you know how to handle yourself." he replies before he finally lets go of my hands and walks out leaving me to play with the sword
