Dead Man's Party Part 2

I quickly pick up a blade and smile as it lights up in my hands but Alec quickly holds my arm concern etched on his face 

"Don't touch that. You don't know how to use it." he states sounding worried and I smile up at him 

"This wouldn't be the first weapon I've held" I say and he smirks shaking his head before he looks over at Clary and raises an eyebrow as if he was expecting her to put it down 

"You definitely don't know how to use that" he glares and I shake my head waiting for a response 

"What, like at Pandemonium when I killed that demon?" Clary asks crossing her arms and I sigh 

"You didn't kill—" Alec begins

"Alec. I'm gonna show Reign the right way to use it can you teach Clary?" he asks and I watch something like hurt cross Alecs face as he looks between Jace and I when Alec finally nods Jace tilts his head "Do you see what you need in here?" he asks 

"No. There's no bow here. I need one. I have to rune some arrows. That's back at the Institute. I gotta go. I'll take Clary with me" Alec states as he goes to turn around and Jace nods 

"Okay, good. Go. I can finish up here." Jace says but I could still sense the tension from a mile away and I watch as Alec hesitates a second before he turns around to Jace 

"Hey... I understand what we need to do. And I trust you, parabatai, but don't even doubt me. No matter what I said." Alec whispers to Jace and I feel awkward listening to the conversation and I turn to Clary 

"Are you going to be okay?" I ask and she looks past me as if I wasn't even there and I tilt my head confused as I go to ask her one more time she finally blurts words out 

"Are you into Jace?" she whispers and my eyes go wide as I look at her 

"Whoa where'd that come from?" I ask trying to make a joke out of the situation but she definitely doesn't seem to find this funny 

"I just-um-I think I might like him a little" she whispers and I nod taking a step back 

"Well then yeah all good, I mean he's attractive and all but this is literally the first time you've had a crush in forever" I state with excitement and she smiles looking over at me 

"You're a good friend Reign" she whispers and I nod before pulling her into a hug 

"Get him I guess" I whisper before I pull away when I look back over at Jace and Alec they seem to have come to a conclusion 

"It's already forgotten." Jace states before they seem to do some sort of handshake "I'll see you at dawn."

"At dawn." Alec nods before he looks over at Clary who moves towards him and I take a breath of relief when they're both gone. As I look over at Jace he seems to be looking at me as if he was studying me when his eyes reach mine he finally snaps back into reality 

"Okay, let me show you how to use this thing. Now, it knows you're a Shadowhunter, so it wants to respond. But you have to be firm with it. Let it know who's boss." Jace says as he walks around behind me placing his hands on top of mine as we hold up the sword and my breath hitches from the immediate contact. 

"There. You make it a part of yourself and it a part of you. Now, the blade never dims. It's saying you belong together." he whispers into my ear and his warm breath against my neck has me feeling some type of way. But after everything I just said to Clary I knew we couldn't do anything further 

"How does it know?" I ask trying to calm myself 

"Cause you're part angel, Reign and clearly something else but like all Shadowhunters." he whispers as he helps me push the blade forward and it's like the air moves around us "You understand?" he asks sounding a little huskier in my ear and I sigh
