"Who was that?" Percy shouted as both of us gathered around the dining room table.
"Lamia," I explained "She is called the child devourer, she had kids with Zeus and when Hera found out she forced her to swallow her own children."
"Damn, let me guess she turned into a monster soon after?" Percy asked, his voice thin.
"Yep," I continued "She used to be the beautiful queen of Libya before she turned into a monster. The snake which protrudes from the cleft of her forehead attacks children. She is basically the greeks bogeyman."
"How come I have never seen or heard of her before then?"
"Here's the thing Percy. No one has seen her in centuries, maybe even millenia, so I have no idea how she could be here."
Percy stared at me his brows furrowed, his face displaying a look of utter confusion and curiosity as his mother walked out of the kitchen holding a tray with cookies and milk in one hand, followed by Paul with a crying Estelle who was resting on the nook of his arm.
As soon as Sally set the tray on the table Percy grabbed a glass of milk, so did Paul.
After a few minutes Paul broke the awkward silence that was forming, "What was that?"
I went over everything I had just told Percy about Lamia, watching Paul and Sally's expressions growing more worried and concerned by the minute.
"We should go to camp right away." Percy said the moment I was done explaining, his expression dead serious.
"What do you mean?" Sally's voice a mixture of confusion and surprise.
"That monster tried to attack my sister, I have to know about it, this is urgent mom, no one has seen that monster in ages and suddenly she shows up in my sisters' bedroom; we need to find out more about her."
"Well, you can't just leave right now, it's the middle of the night!"
"I'll summon Blackjack mom; camp really isn't that far, and he'll keep us safe."
Blackjack had initially gone with us to Camp Jupiter but a few weeks ago he injured himself terribly so Percy thought it would do the Pegasus good to go back to Camp Half Blood for a while.
Sally's face relaxed a bit as she said "Fine, but both of you have to promise me you'll be careful, the last thing I want right now is either of you getting hurt."
"Mom, we'll be fine" Percy replied.

As I stuffed my clothes into my backpack, I tried to remember all the stories I knew about Lamia.
I didn't remember much, Lamia hadn't been one of the most famous monsters, but she was really really powerful.
She had gotten permanent insomnia after she was forced to devour her own children, so Zeus had made her eyes detachable out of pity. I think. That or Hera had gouged her eyes out. Ugh, I really need to hit to the library back at the Athena Cabin.
"Uh, Annabeth?"
I turned around with a jerk, Percy was standing right behind me his eyes wide.
"You don't mind going to Camp Half Blood in the middle of the night, do you?" he asked reaching for my hand.
"Of course not! Lamia tried to go after your family, and I know how much you sister means to you."
Before he could say anything, else Sally appeared in the room's doorway holding 3 lunchboxes.
"Sorry to interrupt but I thought you guys might miss my cookies" she said waving the boxes
"Thanks Sally" I said grabbing the boxes and stuffing them into my backpack, "I really do wish we could have stayed longer."

We dismounted from Blackjack in front of Hestia's hearth at Camp Half Blood. Percy held my hand as we started walking towards the Big House – we found Chiron pacing back and forth, in horse mode. He glanced at us and completely flipped out.
"Thank the gods, are you two, okay? Any monsters?" He asked.
"Actually Chiron, yes, Lamia attacked Estelle," Was all I had to say.
Chiron held my shoulders his brown eyes widening," Annabeth, do you mean the Lamia?"
"Yes, she said Lamia, not any other normal snake lady!" Percy said very aggressively, it was very seldom that he snapped at anybody who is an elder. But I understood his anger, after all, a monster had tried eating Estelle. He loves her way too much.
Suddenly Chiron pointed towards the Dining pavilion where somehow, Rachel was standing deadly still, green mist spewing in the air around her; as all three of us ran out to pavilion Rachel's eyes turned green, her face ghostly.
We reached the pavilion just in time to hear her start reciting a prophecy.
Another trip it shall take to the place,
Where only three mortals have been.
A mix of heroes shall unite,
To defend this world from the noble's blight.
Her son soon she shall reclaim,
At the cost of extreme pain.
A group of those who have already avenged,
Shall combine with the ten.
The moonlark shall spread her wings and fly,
To seek a loved one, with a great tie.
The god of the pit,
Shall release the beast.
Before the final breath of the daughter of beauty.
