[ CODE; 2.05 ] A program of at most 2,383 lines a researcher decided to remake

Start from the beginning

Yukiko's eyes widen as she stared at the figure inside of the container.

It was a beautiful woman with wavy dark brown hair and tanned skin.

Her body was being preserved by the liquid inside of the container.

Numerous tubes was connected towards her body as she slept.

She looked at peace.

"Kaito she..." Yukiko gasped. Recognizing the feature of the woman on the very male she whom accompanied her to the lab.

"Yes." Kaito uttered staring at the woman's face.

"If not for her, Bianca Hunters wouldn't be able to modify us."

"She's..."

"She is our mother."

Needless to say, Yukiko was speechless. That woman.. her two biological fathers... Her incapability of having dreams...

It somehow all makes sense now.

"We aren't human." Kaito spoke, his voice almost inaudible.

"Our true form is that of 2,383 lines."

Those words reverberated all over the abandoned lab bearing a strange weight, like a violent nuclear explosion going off in a distant country.

"So you mean...?"

"Professor Hunters recreated how a military researcher tried to take only the ability from an ability user and put it in an artificial lifeform." The purple haired male spoke.

"Naturally, only a human soul can control the ability. Though at the same time, that meant the limits to each ability was regulated by human spirit."

Kaito's hand touched the glass that holds the peaceful woman.

"From that, a bunch of researchers came up with the idea to cheat abilities. They wanted to make an ability think that there was a human there to control it." He took a deep breath.

"In order to do that, they made a formula for personality: a fake human that disguised a soul. In order to deceive the Ability the only put together a string of emotional equations and laws on behavioral principles."

Kaito removed his hand from the glass and turned to Yukiko, his emotionless red eyes staring down her woeful blue ones.

"That string's length is 2,383 lines. — A successful example of this experiment was Nakahara Chuuya-san..."

Yukiko's breath hitched.

"Do you get it?" Kaito breathed. "Bianca Hunters managed to replicate that string of emotions not once but twice, the latter more powerful than the former."

"Yukiko, our soul is nothing more than a program of 2,383 that a researcher decided to recreate."

Twenty-two year old Dazai Osamu leaned on his chair with his feet on his desk humming along to a song being played on his headphones.

He was tapping his foot in the air— moving along with the beat as his colleague and partner Kunikida Doppo irritably glances at him from time to time.

"You bandage wasting scoundrel." The blond haired man hissed snatching the device from the brunette's head and glaring at him.

"Why don't you do something productive like your paperwork?" Kunikida narrows his eyes.

"That's too troublesome Kunikida-kun" Dazai whined snatching back his headphones.

"I don't have time for this." The idealistic man grumbled.
