"Dustin! This is Lucas. Do you copy? Dustin?" Lucas's voice crackled through the walkie-talkie.

"Well, well, well, look who it is," Dustin spat as Steve and I continued unloading supplies from the car.

"Sorry, man. My stupid sister turned it off," Lucas huffed.

"Well, while you were having sister problems, Dart grew again, escaped, and I'm pretty sure he's a baby Demogorgon," Dustin said nonchalantly. I snapped my fingers.

"I knew he looked familiar!" I shouted.

"Is that Ana?" Lucas's voice came through with confusion.

"I'll explain later. Meet the Harringtons and me at the old junkyard," Dustin instructed.

"Steve?"

"And bring your binoculars and wrist rocket," Dustin added before Lucas could respond.

"All right, let's go," Steve huffed, grabbing the buckets.

"Just be there, stat. Over and out," Dustin said, cutting off the walkie-talkie.

"W-Wait, can I talk to Ana?" Lucas asked. Dustin rolled his eyes and tossed the walkie-talkie over to me.

I swiftly catch it and bring it to my mouth. "This is Ana, over."

"I need you to come and distract Billy," Lucas said urgently. My eyes widened in shock.

"I'm sorry, what?" Steve asked, clearly confused.

"Could I have some context, Sinclair?"

"I've gotta talk to Max and well—you know how he feels about me."

I sigh, running a hand through my hair. "Fine. I'll be there in twenty," I said, releasing the button. "Right after I go home and grab our project." I huffed to myself.

"So what, you're just going to leave us?" Steve demanded.

"Technically, I'm helping. We've got to make sure Billy doesn't come and mess with us, and I need to get an A on this project." I glance over his shoulder at Dustin. "You two be careful, okay? Also, I'm taking the car," I said, grabbing Steve's keys. I gave them a final glance before heading to the driver's side. Steve looked like he wanted to argue, but I was already on my way.

"Good luck!" I shouted as I drove off, heading towards home and then straight to distract Billy.

Lucas and I arrived at the Hargrove house at almost the same time. I parked the car down the street to keep things discreet. As I threw my backpack onto the ground, I groaned in frustration.

"I swear, if I don't get a good grade for this, I'm dropping out of school," I muttered to myself. Loud rock music blared from inside the house. I met Lucas at the front.

"How do we know that Max will even answer the door?" Lucas asked, looking wary.

"Billy's too lazy, that's how," I said confidently. I approached the door and rang the doorbell. "But stand behind me, just in case."

I peeked inside, Billy was focused on his workout routine, lifting weights with intense concentration. He counted under his breath. I rolled my eyes and pressed the doorbell a few more times. He grunted and let the weights drop.

"Max, are you getting that or what?" he bellowed toward the back of the house.

"Okay!" Max shouted back.
