Eureka gets comfortable in the middle seat while I take the aisle. The window seat is still vacant as the person hasn't arrived yet. More people come aboard the plane, going about storing their luggage, locating their seats. Eureka's carry-on was put in the over head bin, after she took out a blanket.

She said in case we get cold later. It sits folded across her lap. My love holds my hand while texting her mom. Letting her know where we're headed before take off. According to Eureka Julian likes to know whenever she's going to fly, to pray for her safe travel. I find it sweet. My family is somewhat religious but no more than your average family, in today's world.

Detka hasn't brought up, what's ruining my mood. For that I'm thankful. I don't want to talk about it right now. Even so my mind keeps going back to it. Replaying our conversation like it's set on a loop. Lucas pushed my strings. He had the nerve to deny it when I confronted him. That son of a b>tch.

He better not damage my truck.

"Detka why don't you go print our tickets. Me and Lucas need to catch up."

I need to address the way he looked at her.

"Sure."

Once I'm certain she's far enough, I nod for us to go outside. Outside multiple bouts of noise is heard. Taxis pulling up unloading suitcases, family's saying goodbye to their family's, airport security doing their roles. Lucas holds out my keys.

"What the f>ck was that?" I screech out.

If he can't tell, I'm pissed. He squints suspiciously to the left. Showing he knows exactly what I'm referring to.

"What was what?"

Really. You're gonna play dumb?

Sounding confused as if my question isn't direct enough. Lucas has never once given me any signs of disloyalty, since we've worked together. Except now that is. I've been considering making him partner, at the firm. Now that seems like its a bad idea.

I move in closer.

"The way you looked at her just now. Like she's a f>cking piece of meat."

Lucas visibly swallows, appearing nervous. He should be because I'm furious. Detka became so uncomfortable. As if she were a naked animal on display. I sensed it the moment she got closer to me, he made her uncomfortable. Something I've never seen before whenever someone, a man looked at her.

"I don't know what you're talking about." Lucas breaks out.

His body is fidgety and tense. No longer is he making eye contact.

Those once trustworthy cerulean eyes become snake like pools. I'm beginning to re-evaluate this friendship between us. F>ck no one can be trusted.
