02| They Need to leave

[M/N] stared down at the dozen of eyes, they all watched him too. Like they were silently judging him for his unkempt uniform. It wasn't his fault the kid at table 3 decided to throw its fucking applesauce at him and berries. How could Auggie even bring home this many cats? How could even carry or make them all follow him?

"Augustus, please tell me this is a prank and didn't somehow adopt these cats." [M/N] said as his guilty-looking nephew came out from the kitchen, holding another cat with teal highlights? So experimented cats? Weird.

"No, I uh, found them." Auggie said as he hugged the cat in his arms tighter, and [M/N] swore that he saw the highlights get brighter. "I couldn't let them freeze outside." 

"It's literally summer, and they would've been fine." [M/N] said as he placed his jacket on the hook before undoing the knot that held the apron on him. He looked over the stains, all covering the front and staining his name tag as well. "Ugh, I wish I could cancel today's reading-GGSSS-" [M/N] gasped as he felt weight go down and saw one of the cats playing at the hem of his apron and tugged down. It was an orange tom cat and meows when it was caught. The cat returned his tare and kept pulling it down even more, digging his nails into it. 

"HEY! NO!" 

[M/N] yanked it up and the cat falls on his butt, hissing before swiping at the apron once more but [M/N] quickly takes it up and holding it close to his chest. "Auggie!"

"Sorry!" The middle school student quickly placed the teal highlighted cat and plucks the orange tomcat into his arms. It struggles for a moment before meowing and lays limply in Auggie's arms. His tail flickering but made no move to leave. "But [M/N], can we keep them? What if they go back to their abusive owner who wants to turn them pink!? OR WORST?!"

[M/N] sighs as he heard his nephew, watching him swing the cat a bit in his arms, muttering the worst things that could happen to the cats. A ding came from his pocket and pulled his phone out, a small alarm saying that the client would be there in a few minutes. "I don't have time, take them upstairs and play with them in your room. A client is coming for reading and I don't need something-something cats to roam around them." 

Auggie pouts but nods, he placed the cats inside the box and began walking upstairs. Unaware that two were missing from the brown box. Auggie struggled with the box but made it up the stairs without any trouble. [M/N] heard the door shut and Auggie muffled talking, probably talking to the cats.

[M/N] sighs as he looked at his uniform shirt before moving walked away and into a different side of the house. An extra room that would be considered a mudroom, had a way out to the backyard but also access to the front yard. Though the one to the backyard was locked and covered by a dark curtain, closing the light out along with the dark curtains out the windows. [M/N] turns the light on and placed a thin scarf over the top of the lamp, causing a purple tint in the room.
