Chapter Eighty-Three: Red Cardinal

Start from the beginning

The four had arrived at Tengoku, the sky clear and blue. They saw the palace in front of them that was in the process of rebuilding. "Do you know where Ataeru's grave is?" Oshita asked.

"There's a gravesite behind the palace where the graves of great angels preside in. I trust that Fugai has put Ataeru's grave there as Ataeru was a former Tenkari member." Vules said.

"I see." Oshita spoke.

"Follow me." Vules spoke as he began walking towards the palace.

The three went to follow after Vules. They walked around the palace in order to get to the back. Eventually, they had arrived at their destination; the gravesite.

The gravesite had many gravestones adorned on the ground. Multiple names of the deceased and date of death were listed upon the gravestones. The four of them walked around in order to find Ataeru's gravestone.

Vules was the first to find it as he stopped at the front of it. He looked at it with sorrow as he knelt before it. Rakuken, Oshita, and Shizen then stood behind Yuruso; looking at Ataeru's gravestone with grief as well.

Vules then set down the aster flowers by Ataeru's grave. "Ataeru.." he spoke as tears began to form in his eyes.

Droplets of saltwater fell from his eyes as it landed on Ataeru's grave. "Ataeru, I'm sorry. I'm sorry that you have a coward of a friend. But even with a coward like me, I hope that you're well in the afterlife." he sobbed. "Please tell me that you're doing well, my dear friend."

Suddenly, a red cardinal then flew from the skies and perched on Ataeru's gravestone. The bird looked at him, its presence almost comforting.

"Thank you."

In time, a day had passed and the early rays of morning shined from the sun. Rakuken had woken earlier than usual and went to her bathroom. She then brushed her teeth and dressed up shortly after. She then told her mother that she was going out and left.

Rakuken was excited that she could enjoy her summer vacation with her friends. She quickly ran to Shizen's house and knocked on his door.

After a few moments, someone had opened the door. "Oh, it's you Rakuken. What are you doing here?" Shizen asked.

"Well, I wanted to invite you and Oshita so we can hang out with Yuruso." Rakuken said.

"Is Yuruso even in the human world?" he asked.

"Well, no. But we can get him in Yugana and hang out there instead." Rakuken said.

"Fine. Koware is sleeping right now so I need to leave a note for her that I'm going to be out." Shizen said before going back inside in his house.

Rakuken followed after him into his house, closing the door behind her. She then saw Shizen taking out a pencil and a sheet of paper from his backpack. He started writing on the paper using his pencil and went inside Koware's room.

He placed the note on the table that was beside his little sister. Shizen then left her room and closed the door. "Let's go." he said.

Rakuken then rushed towards the door and opened it. As soon as Shizen walked outside, Rakuken closed his door.

They started walking towards Oshita's place- eventually reaching there quickly. Rakuken knocked on the door, in which Oshita quickly answered it.

"Rakuken, Shizen, what are you two doing here?" Oshita spoke.

"Basically she wants us to visit Yuruso in Yugana." Shizen summarized.

"And we need you to open a portal to Yugana using your hypothesis thingie so we can get there." Rakuken said.

Oshita sighed. "It's early in the morning Rakuken, but I'll try making a portal there. You just need to tell me a visual idea of Yugana."

"Alright then! Let's go!" Rakuken said excitedly as she grabbed Oshita's wrist.

Oshita was caught off guard but stood her ground. "I need to tell my mother that I'm going out, Rakuken."

"Sorry! I guess I got carried away." Rakuken said.

"Idiot." Shizen muttered.

"Mother, I'm going out with Rakuken and Shizen!" Oshita spoke.

Her mother can be heard faintly in their house. "Alright, be safe and have fun with your friends!"

Oshita then stepped out of the house and closed the door. "We should go to the forest since it's a secluded area. While we walk there, could you please tell me what Yugana looks like?"

"Yep!" Rakuken said as the three of them started walking towards the forest. "Yugana is arranged into seven levels, similar to terraces. Most houses in Yugana are usually made out of stone or wood. The lower levels are much hotter in climate as fire is usually present below. Lower levels are usually reserved for fallens that refuse to make up their crimes by doing good."

"I see." Oshita spoke, grasping the general concept of the dimension.

Eventually the three of them had arrived in the forest- in which Oshita started to form the portal. The no-class visualized the dimension in her mind, forming the portal as it slowly got larger.

Oshita found it difficult to form the portal into a larger size, but in due time- she had succeeded. She then nodded at the two to walk inside the portal; which they did. She then walked into the portal herself, the portal disappearing shortly afterwards.
