A/N: this style is different than my last request, as this is more of third person POV with reader insert. I hope you don't mind, I was trying something new!

(Y/N) Jackson was an odd one. Percy's younger sister was emo and pretty much the exact opposite of her older bro. (Y/N) had pretty much been the loner for as long as she could remember, never having friends and being 'fine' with it. If people thought she was happy without friends then they would never have to know that she was actually terribly alone, insecure, and generally feeling empty.
Not even her mother Sally knew, and Ms Jackson could see through people (and the Mist) pretty well.
Being the famous Percy Jackson's sister and also the daughter of the Sea God wasn't easy as it was, but if people knew her true personality, well, they would treat her like the outcast she knew she was deep down.
One day (Y/N) was walking down to the beach at night. (Y/N) preferred the dark: no one could see her face and read through her emotions, although she often wore a mask of stone to keep her feelings hidden anyway.
(Y/N) always had mixed feelings about water. Yes, she was Poseidon's child, but that didn't mean she likes to be near it as much as possible, unlike her brother Percy. It was like the same thing as Thalia the child of Zeus being afraid of heights, though this wasn't fear. It was more of only liking the water at all because your father controlled it. It also had to do with the fact that (Y/N)'s brother loves the water, and she didn't want to be like him at all.
Tonight, however, was different. Tonight (Y/N) felt the water calling her, willing her to sit on the beach and dangle her toes in the cool liquid. So that is exactly what she did. (Y/N) sat there on the beach for what felt like hours. She might have sat there all night, but all of a sudden she heard someone approaching.
(Y/N) froze. Nobody knew that she was awake pretty much all the time, and of course, tonight she just had to be out in the dark alone at 1:30 in the morning. That totally wouldn't raise any questions.
However, the person approaching was a camper most definitely. When they came closer (Y/N) saw it was Nico Di Angelo.
He stopped when he saw (Y/N) Jackson. "What are you doing out here?" He asked.
"The real question is what are you doing out here? I was here first so I should ask that, not you." One thing about her personality she never hid was her sass.
"Uh...I'm just walking around. I don't usually sleep well."
"That I can understand." (Y/N) mutters.
"Can I sit?" Nico asked, pointing at the ground next to the Sea God's Daughter.
(Y/N) didn't answer, instead staring at him with a look that plainly said 'I don't know, can you?'
Nico did sit, deciding (Y/N) probably wasn't going to kill him.
The pair sat in silence for a few minutes, moonlight shining down on them.
"So, you never answered my question, which I asked first. Why are you out here at hours past midnight?"
(Y/N) hesitated. Did she really trust the Son of Hades? She decided that the worst that could happen was he tell someone, which didn't seem like the kind of thing di Angelo would do. "Well...for one thing I also couldn't sleep...for another, I felt the water calling me..."
"Calling you? Like Poseidon speaking time you?"
(Y/N) scowled. "Poseidon hasn't spoken to me since Kronos was destroyed. No, it was the water itself. I usually don't go near it often, but tonight I felt like I should."
"Oh. Why did it bring you out here? Do you know?"
"Well, I've been out here for several hours, and nothing happened, that is, until you showed up. I've just been sitting here regretting everything I've ever said and done..."
"What have you been regretting? I mean, if you don't mind me asking."
"I've a been regretting being a child of Poseidon and Percy Jackson's brother. I've been regretting ever coming to camp. I've been regretting saying I want to be alone..." (Y/N) started to wonder why she was spilling so much of her personal self out to a kid she barely knew, but something told her she could trust him.
"I know how that feels...wanting to be alone but not wanting to be lonely...."
"Exactly. At least you don't have to deal with a famous sibling. You might also be a child of The Big Three, but at least your father is the outcast one and people don't expect so much from you. For me however, people expect way too much from me, say I should 'be more like my brother' or 'act the role of hero because that is what my brother is.' No one understands that that isn't who I am. Hence I shut people out...pretend I don't care, say I don't need friends, but in the end, it all comes down to the fact I'm just empty as Tataurus."
Nico paused before answering. "I know exactly how that is. That is pretty much my whole life, even before I came to camp, except then I had my sister who understood..."
"Well, then maybe a child of the Sea and Underworld are more similar than one might imagine..."

A/N: I hope you liked this! It was short compared to my first one, but One-shots aren't meant to be long. Besides, this is my first time doing it! Anyway, thanks for the request! Peace out!
Wow this hits so much differently now that I've become y/n. Emo, depressed, no one understands me. I think I've been like that for a while just didn't realize it until I joined bandoms
