"They All Think I'm Crazy." (Percy Jackson X Reader)

Start from the beginning

And here you are, three months later, still living on your own. The saddest part is your mom didn't even report you missing until three weeks after you fled home. You live in alleyways, occasionally fighting monsters with a baseball bat you had found.

After fleeing the police (not the first time), you find a secluded alley and bed down for the night.

-TIME SKIP-

You wake the next morning to find yourself face-to-face with a raccoon. You gasp in surprise and jerk away. It skitters over to the end of the alley, looking offended.

"Look, buddy, I won't mess with you if you don't mess with me."

The raccoon just makes a chattering noise and scampers off. You have just shoved all your belongings into your torn back pack when you hear a noise. Slinging your pack onto your shoulders and gripping your baseball bat tightly, you crawl toward the entrance of the alleyway as silently as you could.

Peeking out, you see a boy, who looked to be around thirteen, with black hair. You know you should just sneak away now while you are still unseen, but there Is something about this boy that seems familiar. Almost as if you knew him once upon a time.....

Clunk! While you have been watching the teen walk past, you fail to notice your bag slipping off your shoulders. It hits the ground and the boy stops and turns in your direction.

He advances toward the alleyway slowly, pulling out of his pocket—is that a pen? You backup and scramble to your feet, snatching your backpack off the ground as you do so.

"Who's there?" The black haired guy asks.

Of course you say nothing. Maybe if you are quiet he'll go away?

Of course, there is no such luck. The teenager walks into the alleyway and stops when he sees you.

"What are you doing? Don't you have parents?"

"I could ask you the same thing." You snap, not at all wanting to trust this boy with your personal life.

"Well, my mom lives several blocks from here and I'm currently on my way to the supermarket to get a snack."

You stare at him blankly. You were not expecting him to answer his own question.

"Ok," you hiss "If you must know, I'll tell you. But promise to not turn me in to the police."

He looks confused. "Why would I do that?"

"I don't know! Just promise!"

"Ok, I promise...?"

It doesn't sound convincing, but it is all you have. "I never known my dad, and as for my mom, she hates me so I ran away a few months ago."

"Wait...you ran away because your mom hates you? You don't have anywhere else you could stay?"

"I don't have any friends. They all left me because they think I'm crazy."

"Why do they think you're crazy?"

You hesitate. "If I tell you, you'll think I'm crazy too and turn me in."

"No, I won't. I've seen some strange things myself that normal people wouldn't believe either."

"Okay....well, the week before I ran away, I was on my bike and I was attacked by—by, metal robot chickens."

You wait for him to laugh at you. You wait for him to tell you that you are insane. Instead he just grimaces.
