"..he's more of myself than I am. Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same"
Janelle's Pov
"Girl you need to hurry up we got less than 20 minutes!! this is serious Janelle you are on National TV you have to make a good impression" my mom yelled standing in my doorway for the 5th time today.
"Mom I'm literally just sitting on a couch for 30 minutes it's not that serious" I said to her annoyed, yet in the back of my mind, I knew this was a life-changing moment for Justin.
Today was draft day, one of the most anticipated events across the nation where over 200 players pursue their dreams and go to the pros. Ever since 2nd grade, all Justin ever talked about is how much he loved football, every day after school he would beg me to go on the field and play with him, even though I had no idea what to do half the time. There was no doubt in my mind that he wouldn't make it to the NFL, even when everyone doubted him I always knew he was special.
I looked at myself in the mirror one last time to make sure I looked presentable, I'm praying my curls to last me at least a good hour so we can take pictures-
"TODAY JANELLE LETS GO!!" she yelled grabbing my arm forcing me out the doorway. She yanked the keys from my hand and motioned me to get in the passenger seat, she hates the way drives.
After about 10 minutes we had arrived at Justin's parent's house, which was by far one the biggest I've seen in person. I began to get a small sense of nervousness while staring at the front door, I've been over here countless times but it never fails, I can never shake the feeling.
"Okay don't get out of the car and embarrass me mom I'll call you if anything happens" I said eyeing her while she began to laugh.
"Yeah okay you better call me, I need to know how much money we getting!"
"Ma it's not our money it's HIS money, he's going to be the rich man, not us"
"Okay whatever go in there and support your little boyfriend I'll see you later" she said pointing at the doorway which he was now standing in for god knows how long watching us argue like madmen.
"He is not my boyfriend" I huffed getting out of the car slamming the door shut. Even though we've been best friends since we were little my mom always teased me about him being my only friend that was a boy, which indeed he was but I was perfectly fine with that.
"Hi Bestieeeee!" I exclaimed pulling him into a tight hug. I was immediately hit with the smell of fresh cologne that had to be way overpriced.
"I appreciate you for coming I know it's kinda a short notice" he said pulling away.
I wanted to tell him that I wouldn't miss this for anything in the world, but my mind was slowly becoming mesmerized by his appearance, dressed in a satin button-up shirt that was ever so slightly open showing his chest tattoo with his gold cross dangling from his neck that paired perfectly with his stud earrings glistening with each turn of his head.
"You okay?" he asked scrunching his eyebrows up at me.
'Yeah- of course I'm okay, come on let's go inside" I said pushing past him into the house, inside his family were all sitting on the couch conversating flipping through the tv channels. In front of them had to be at least 15 cameras of all different sizes. His mom looked up from the camera screen for a split second
