Announcer: And the Buckeyes will survive this one folks 38-25!"
Iris's Pov
"Should I even be talking to him?"... I thought to myself. It's not secret that d1 athletes are known for giving nothing but heartbreaks and bullshit excuses, but did I really have anything to lose? What's the worse that could happen? Life is already hard enough I'm probably just thinking way too much into this.
I sighed to myself and forced myself to the end of the field to catch some shots of the team for their video going up soon. I pressed the record button and tried to catch them one by one. I could see Justin approaching me from the viewfinder.

I carefully watched him as my heart began to give out on me the closer he got to my camera.
"How was that?" he asked me.
"H-how was what?"
"The shot" he said pointing at my lens. Wow, my brain is so disoriented I wasn't even paying attention to a single word that was coming out of his mouth.
"Oh! yeah it came out great actually, I'll put it in the video for next week". I said We began walking back into the locker room where the sound of blasting music and yelling nearly shook the ground. I could feel his eyes luring on me but I didn't dare turn to look at him, I wouldn't be able to compose myself.
"So where are you from?" he asked me.
"Columbus...Ohio" I sighed looking up at him "I know it's not very exciting".
He cocked his head at me, "And you came all the way down here for a competitive photography job?". My eyes widened at his question. I could feel his arrogance just pouring from his mouth, just like I thought.
"It's not just a job it's my career, I love doing this. Where are you from anyways?" I questioned him.
"Kennesaw Georgia" He said plainly opening the door which lead to an empty changing room.
"So you came from all the way down there just to play football?? " I mocked him. He turned to face me "Yes I did, and I'm doing pretty damn good at it, to say the least" he stated.
I couldn't even pretend to act like he wasn't, although I never knew who he was until today the way he operates on the field tells me everything I need to know.
"Anyways if you're hungry there's food in the media room if you want anything," he said heading towards the door.
"Wait where are you going?"
"I have a post-game interview on zoom with some reporters" he rolled his eyes in annoyance. "You can come watch if you want" he pointed at a metal door across from him.
I nodded and followed behind him. In the room, there had to be at least 15 cameras planted in front of him. How can someone even function properly? My anxiety could not handle all of this.
"You can do whatever you want just don't make too much noise" he said eying me.
"Yeah yeah, whatever you say" I said shaking my head watching the words fall from his mouth, he had the most perfect shaped lips-
"You know if you snap a picture I think it'll last longer" he laughed at me.
"You're not funny just do your zoom thingy whatever it's called" I pointed at the camera facing him.
About 10 minutes had passed and all these questions were beyond irrelevant. I decided to get up and search for some food, I made my way out of the room and into another room filled with food platters nearly stacked up to the ceiling that looked like it was going to collapse. I grabbed some chips and bottled water and headed back to the room. I tried to open my chips as quietly as I could but the bag wouldn't budge. I opted into using my teeth which wasn't such a smart idea.
"POP!"
The bag exploded everywhere. I stared at the mess in shock as Justin looked immediately looked up and away from the camera directing his attention to me seeing the chips scattered everywhere.

"I am so sorry" I mouthed to him. I knew I should have done this outside of the room.
After a painful 20 minutes, this stupid interview was finally over. I wasn't even going to bother trying to clean up the mess I made.
"So much for being quiet huh?" he said laughing at me.
"This never happened okay? okay" I said in distress. I felt my phone buzz and looked at the time "11:42pm" I should probably start making my way back to the hotel...
"It's getting late I should start making my way back..". I said looking up at him, it felt like his eyes were looking deep into my soul I wasn't sure if I wanted to like it or be concerned.
"Well, did you have fun?" he said not breaking eye contact with me.
"Fun? I mean... I guess so I had a pretty decent time" I said a little confused.
"Decent? I thought you loved your job" he said.
I pushed open the door that lead to an empty parking lot and glared at him, "Of course I love my job it's one of my favorite things to do". I wasn't sure what exactly he was trying to get at honestly.
I pulled out my keys from my pocket as I felt him grab my hand ever so softly. I pressed on the unlock button without taking my eyes off him. I opened my mouth ready for another wave of confusion to fall out from under me, yet instead, I was stopped by his lips crashing into mine. It felt so intoxicating I forgot to breathe for a quick moment.
He pulled away and licked his lips. I could feel my face become frozen in time
"See that was some pretty decent fun now wasn't it?" he smirked at me. God his arrogance will be the death of me.
"Yeah...I guess it was" I said smiling up at him. I walked over to my car as he opened my door.
"Sooo I'll see you at my next game right?" he said leaning halfway into the car.
"Of course" I said starting up the car. If I wasn't already enjoying my job, I began to fall in love with it even more.
