Trees, that is all I see durning our drive to my new home. Trees going for miles and miles only seeing a sign every once in awhile. I like the place already but that doesn't get rid of the feeling in my stomach of having to start all over from a new school and new people.

"How are you feeling flower?" My mom asks me looking over to me tilting her head so I could see her eyes over her sunglasses.

"I'm nervous but excited." I say truthfully smiling towards my mother who was excited to be moving back to where she grew up, to where I was born.

"This is going to be great for us, the Walker girls are back!" My mom says yelling the last part loudly pumping her fist in the air and I couldn't help but join in by putting my hands in the air of the cheap convertible and letting out my own happy howls of excitement.

"We're back!" I yell causing my mom and I to laugh as we continue to drive passing more trees. Maybe this place won't be to bad.

My mom finally pulled into a driveway the revealed a tiny cabin with land all around it that had trees surrounding the clearing the house was in. We got out of the car looking at it, not sure what to do now.

"It's um nice." I say tilting my head at it and my mom did the same thing probably hoping it looked better at a different angle. It didn't.

"We can make it look nice if we add some flowers and a fresh coat of paint." My mom says as we just look at each other not sure that was going to help at all.

"Yeah maybe." I tell her as we head to the car to grab our belongings which wasn't a lot since we were used to living small which meant not a lot of luggage. "We need to go shopping for furniture." I say as my mom had to literally throw her body at the door to open it since it was stuck from being old.

"We have an air mattress that should be good enough until this weekend." She says placing the luggage down and looking around the home. When we entered we were greeted by the kitchen which was small and already had a table in it, the living room was attached with two windows looking out to the woods. There were three doors to the side of the wall the closet on was the bathroom that needed a plant or two to make it look nicer and then two bedrooms that weren't to big but were perfect for us.

"I actually kind of like it." My mom says putting her hands on her hips looking around proudly at the tiny house she bought.

"Yeah the inside is better then the outside, this house was definitely meant for us." I say dropping my bags searching for the air mattress to blow up for tonight.

Later that night my mom and I were cramped together on the air mattress not being able to sleep. I felt her shift and I turned to see her looking at me smiling. I give her a confused look but she continued to smile at me.

"Are you excited about starting a new school?" She asks me tucking a piece of hair out of my face and behind my ear.

"I'm nervous. What if I nobody wants to be friends with me, you know I'm bad at making them and now I'm new in this small town." I say sighing and see my mom give me a sad smile.

"I could always see if I can do high school again then we could be those two girls gossiping about what Amanda and Stacy wore and how they are annoying." My mom jokes but I know my mom was also serious we hated being away from each other, she was always possessive of me and wanted to protect me.

"Mom you know you can't you already got you GED and you have to get a job so we can stay in a house." I say giving her a small laugh at the thought of us going to the same school.

"You are going to an amazing day at school tomorrow trust me." She says giving me a kiss on the head and dramatically throwing the blanket around her turning to face the ceiling closing her eyes but the smile never leaving her face. I soon fall asleep after our talk dreaming about woods and a silver wolf looking at me and then it changed to me in the water with a tail as black as night and a guy I couldn't see his face swimming with me while laughing.

I was woken up by my mom jumping on top of me shaking me awake.

"Good morning flower I went out and brought back waffles and ice cream." My mom says knowing that was my favorite food combo that always put me into a good mood.

"I'm still going to have a miserable day at school." I say getting up stretching and rubbing my eyes sleepily shuffling towards the kitchen table. "I had a weird dream last night." I tell my mom who put two plates in front of each of us.

"Tell me about it." My mom says smiling at me always wanting to hear about my dreams. My mom always told me how dreams are peoples way of escaping reality and could always show you what you desire or what you don't want to see which was nightmares that I struggle from but whenever I have a dream they are always the best.

"I was in the water swimming around and there was this guy there, I couldn't see his face but I looked happy as we were just laughing and I had this huge smile.. but the weird thing was I had a tail like a mermaid tail." I say looking at my mom who smiling face went blank as she stared at me with not emotion showing. "Mom are you okay?" I ask causing her to get out of the trance she was in.

"Yeah I'm fine, I'm going to miss you while you are at school." She says frowning at me as she shoved a bite of ice cream in her mouth.

"And I am going to miss you while your at work" I say to her teasingly making her groan in annoyance.

"I don't want to go, the diner is all the way in forks." She says banging her head on the table and leaving it there.

I smile at my moms childish action and get up from my seat pulling her out of hers guiding the both of us the bathroom. "Come on we have to get ready." I tell her putting toothpaste on both of our toothbrushes.

"Let's ditch today." She says hopefully looking at me as I put her toothbrush into her hand and give her a disapproving look. "Mom it's our first day today.. at least wait until the second day." I tell her as we brushed our teeth and washing up for the day.

I walk by the air mattress that was in the living room and to my suitcase that was in front of it since we had nothing to store our clothes away in yet. I pulled out my black skinny jeans and white crop top with my black leather jacket my mom bought me last summer and paired it with my black pump boots. I walked into the bathroom to see my mom was wearing her diner uniform and matching black leather jacket.

"Nice jacket." I say as I hand her purse to her and she hands me my backpack.

"You too." She says as we walk out to the car and jump in heading to the school for her to drop me off. I kept repeating to myself that I would be fine but I already knew like always nobody would want to be my friend. I'm just the weird kid.
