a simple encounter

grimace is back

"Bruce are you okay?" Steve asks 

"Talk to me Banner," Tony adds 

"I'm okay," Banner chokes out 

Banner lets out a terrifying scream and he raises his hand in the air and snaps his fingers. With the snap a flash of white clouds everyone vision. After he snaps his eyes shoot open and he drops to the ground, causing the glove to fall to the floor. 

"Bruce!" I yell while running up to him 

He groans in pain as Tony takes care of his now burnt arm. He grabs Steve's arm in search of something to hold onto. The doors and windows soon uncover themselves and the room is filled with natural light. 

"Did it... Did it work?" Banner stutters 

"We're not sure. It's okay," Thor replies while holding Banners head. 

Soon after, I feel my pocket begin to vibrate. I pull my phone out of my pocket and almost choke when I see the Caller ID. I quickly swipe my finger across the screen to accept the call. 

"Helen?" I choke, tears filling my eyes 

"Oh thank god, You picked up. What's going on?" She panics 

Thor looks up at me in disbelief and tears begin to well in his eyes 

"It's a lot to explain Helen, but I have someone that really wants to talk to you right now," I smile

"Who?" She asks 

I hand the phone to Thor before giving her a reply. He hesitantly holds the phone to his ear and tears stream down his face when he hears her voice. 

"My love?... Yes... yes... It's me," he stutters 

I smile at the ground as Thor talks with Helen on the phone. My smile soon fades when I realize, I will never get that phone call. I will never hear my lover's voice again. He won't be returning alongside all of our friends and family. He truly is gone. My thoughts are soon cut off when the natural light that we all sat in under the lab's skylight was blocked by something in the sky. Before I can warn the others, the building is shot at and blown up, sending it into flames. Walls collapse, Windows smash, Alarms begin to go off. We all get separated in the fall. Each one of us falling with the building as it falls to the ground. Everything goes back once my body hits the ground.

"Hey, hey, come on you have to get up, stay with me come on," 

"Kid, come on, the fight hasn't started yet, we need you," 

"Did either of you see her fall? How bad was it?" 

"She was right next to me before we fell, she was knocked out immediately"

The first thing I can hear is Steve, Tony and Thor all around me. I slowly open my eyes and the pain surges through my body once I regain my consciousness. Thor quickly notices and grabs either side of my head, searching my eyes. 

"She's awake," he states 

"Looks like she took it better than we thought," Tony states 

"Can you stand?" Steve asks 

"I... What the fuck just happened," I mutter 

"We're not too sure just yet, kid," Tony replies while helping me off the ground 

"Where are the others?" I ask 

"Also not too sure on that one," Thor replies 

"Who did this?" I mutter 

"You mess with time, it tends to mess back," Tony replies 

We all begin to walk to the open area. Thor stops in his tracks causing us all to stop and see what he's looking at. My eyes widen as I see Thanos sitting there, almost as if he's waiting for us. 

"What is he doing?" I ask 

"Absolutely nothing," Thor replies 

"Where are the stones?" Steve asks 

"Somewhere under all this," Tony replies while motioning to the ruins 

"At least we know he doesn't have them," I state 

"Let's keep it that way," Steve mutters 

"You know it's a trap right?" Thor asks 

"Yeah. I don't care much," Tony replies 

"Good. Just as long as we're all in agreement," Thor nods 

The sound of thunder can be heard and Thor holds his hands up in the air. His eyes become white and a bolt of lightning is summoned down onto Thor. His outfit changes from his casual attire to his battle armour. He now holds Mjolnir and the Storm Breaker in either of his hands. 

"Let's kill him properly this time," Thor states 

As we approach Thanos, he looks up at us casually. 

"You could not live with your own failure. Where did that bring you? Back to me. I thought by eliminating half of life, the other half would thrive. But, you've shown me... that's impossible. And as long as there are those that remember what was... there will always be those that are unable to accept what can be. They will resist," Thanos states 

"Spare us the shitty monologue. We get it, we're all kinds of stubborn," I blurt out 

"I'm thankful. Because now... I know what I must do. I will shred this universe down to its last atom and then... with the stones you've collected for me... create a new one, teeming with life... that knows not what it has lost but only what it has been given. A grateful universe," Thanos continues while standing up and placing his helmet on his head, equipping himself with his weapon

"Born out of blood," Steve replies 

"They'll never know it because you won't be alive to tell it," Thanos replies 

"Yeah okay Grimace," Tony states before jumping up and striking him. Steve and Thor follow in after him and begin fighting with Thanos
