"Y/N, wake up!"

You bolted upright in bed, your heart pounding and a clammy feeling in your body. The dream that plagued your mind was indeed frightening, and you weren't able to tell what was real.

You looked up to see Seonghwa sitting at the foot of your bed, worry etched into his beautiful features. But you, still in your state of terror, didn't register that your boyfriend genuinely cared for you. Flashbacks of your previous relationship clouded your mind, and your body shook with terror.

Seonghwa extended his hand out to you, but you curled into yourself, making him frown at your actions. Then, his heart broke when he heard you mumble.

"Please... I-I can be good. I'm sorry for being a b-brat."

Seonghwa had to bite his tongue to contain his anger. He couldn't believe that your ex-boyfriend had made you — an angel sent from the heavens — feel so horrible about yourself. His heart continued to shatter when he heard your heartbroken cries.

"Y/N... look at me, Kitten." Seonghwa said softly, so he didn't scare you any more than you already were.

You peeked your head up from your lap, meeting your boyfriend's worry-filled eyes. You seemed to calm down a bit when you detected no signs of malice towards you.

"I promise you I'm not going to hurt you. I could never hurt you; you're my precious Kitten," Seonghwa promised.

You uncurled your body at his soothing words, trusting yourself to fling yourself into his warm and welcoming embrace. You still had dried tear stains on your cheeks, and your eyes were swimming with unshed tears.

Seonghwa kissed your head and rubbed your back, trying to make you as comfortable as possible.

"I'm sorry, Hwa," you croaked from your position in his arms.

"What do you mean?" He asked in confusion.

You buried your face into his shoulder. "I'm sorry for waking you up and worrying you."

Seonghwa squeezes you just a little bit tighter in his arms, pressing kisses to your hair. "Don't ever apologize for that, Kitten. It's not your fault. Y/N... you're not a brat, nor will you ever be one. He can't hurt you anymore — I swear to you that you're safe. And I swear to you that I will never say anything like that to you, nor will I treat you poorly. I will love you endlessly, protect you, and make you happy for the rest of our lives."
