We kept fishing for hours, Jean managed to catch three fish. I didn't catch any besides the first one. My stomach started to growl.
"Wow, was that an earthquake or your stomach?" I blushed.
"You seem pretty hungry, do you want to get some food?" Jean asked.
"Er, yeah. Food sounds great." I replied. Jean got up and began to pack up the fishing supplies. We released the fish out of our bucket and back into the water. Once he put everything back near the "x" marked tree, we walked back into town.
We walked by the many different shops. "Hey Mikasa, they're selling some food over there. Lets go see what they have." Jean exclaimed. Jean and I walked over to the vender and looked at the foods he was selling. It wasn't anything too fancy, we bought some cooked fish and potatoes. Once they were wrapped, Jean put them into his large bag for later.
Jean led me down a small path to a large tree sitting atop a hill. I still didn't understand how Jean arranged all of this by himself. Everything is planned out so precisely. The last time I checked, preciseness wasn't exactly Jeans forte.
We walked up the hill and sat below the tree. The leaves perfectly blocked out the sun, even though there wasn't a lot of sun left to block out. I can't believe that the day is almost over. This entire endeavor feels too good to be true--almost like a dream that I don't
wan't to wake up from.
We just sat and waited. Barely making a sound, I could tell it was getting awkward for Jean.
"So, I'm a bit hungry." I said. Jean stared out into the distance, obviously not hearing what I'd said.
"So, can we eat the food that we bought from the vender..." I suggested.
Jean snapped out of his trance. "Oh right!" He handed me a potato and a fish, along with a fork.
"Thank you." I said to him. I ate small pieces of my fish and took a couple bites out of my potato.
"So, the sky is very pretty..." Jean said.
"Yes, it is." I replied. Why was it so awkward to talk with him all of the sudden?
We watched the sky grow dimmer and dimmer as we ate. once we both finished, we decided that it would be a good idea to start heading back. we walked along the dirt roads until we ended up back at the training camp.
Jean walked me down to the girls dormitory. "So, goodnight. Maybe we could do this again, sometime." Jean asked.
"Yes, maybe. Goodnight too." I replied.
"Before you go!" Jean reached down into his bag. "I got this for you on our date!" Jean exclaimed. He held a tiny bracelet in his hand. I gently picked up the bracelet and smiled.
"Thank you very much. Goodnight Jean, I'll see you tomorrow." I said as I opened the door.
I walked into the room and collapsed onto my bed. Something didn't feel right in my stomach, maybe it was something I'd eaten. I threw off my shoes and curled under my sheets. I drifted off into a nice sleep.
