they painted a layer of liquid steel
over the surface of his skin
and they thought he was invincible
that his skin was a bullet proof vest
but he was not made of titanium
the bullets marked fire brimmed constellations in his skin
they filled him to the brim with gasoline and thought he was a machine
his pride made him keep walking through the smoke that filled his lungs in poison
and his skin was ripped off and replaced with darkness
but he still had blood in his veins
instead of fire
and in the end
he was just glass that looked like steel
