The Story of Us

Three

“Hello Amanda.” Max’s mom chirped as I slid into the back seat of their family’s minivan. “Hi Mrs. Saxton.” I replied back smiling, as Max scooted in next to me.

“You look really pretty.” Max whispered in my ear, slapping our palms together, and interlocking our fingers. I felt color rise to my cheeks. “Thanks.” I grinned.

Me and Max’s date went absolutely perfect. Even though I was absolutely horrid at bowling, Max let me win every game. We had shared a plate of fries and a strawberry slushy, both of our favorites.

“Your house or Sky’s?” Mrs. Saxton asked as we turned down my street. “Um Sky’s. I’m spending the night there.” I replied.

When we pulled into their drive way, Max walked me up to the Saunders front door.

“I had a lot of fun.” I said to Max, smiling. “Me too.” Max said, grabbing my hand. “And I hope we can do it again soon.” He added.

Max looked at me for awhile, as if he was trying to memorize every detail of my face.

He slowly lifts my chin with index finger, and leans in to me slowly. I hold my breathe right as he pushed his lips against mine. Time felt like it stopped. I couldn’t believe I was kissing Max Saxton.

As he finally pulls away, I can feel a foolish grin growing on my face. As soon as I focus on Max, I can tell he’s mirroring me.

“I’ll see you Monday.”Max smiles, kissing me once more, the shuffling back over to his mom’s van.

I feel a tug on my arm, as I’m being dragged of the front porch, and into the house. “What the-“I look up and see the eyes of Caleb.

“You’re too young to be going around and kissing boys.” Caleb scolds, crossing his arms over his naked chest. Why does he always have to walk around shirtless, flaunting those abs.

“What do you want me to do? Kiss girls?” I sneered back, rolling my eyes. “Anyways you shouldn’t be talking. From what I heard you lost your virginity freshmen year.” I added, trying to walking around him, but his arms shot out, pinning me.

“How do you know about that?” He asked his face paling. “Don’t you remember? I’m best friends with your sister.” I replied smirking.

I actually remember that day clearly. We were doing our homework for 7th grade math, when she mentioned over hearing her brother and his then girlfriend Jessie. I was heartbroken, but I got over it, still aiming for Caleb to fall for me.

“Either way you not that kind of girl. You sweet, innocent, not dumb some whore.” Caleb replied, bringing me back to reality. “Thanks.” I blushed letting my bangs fall in my eyes.

“Hey Caleb?” I asked from half way up the stair, heading to Sky’s room. “Yeah?” he replied, bounding up the stairs after me, barley inches away. “Can I borrow a shirt to sleep in? I don’t want to wake my parents buy going over to my house and grabbing some pj’s.” I asked.

“Yeah Sure. Let me go grab you one.” Caleb answered, walking over to his bedroom.

Soon he came out with his huge, burnt orange, Texas Longhorn Tee. “Thank you.” I said, taking it out of his hands.

“No Problem. Goodnight Amanda.” Caleb replied.

I felt my heart flutter, as he kissed me on the forehead, and walked into his bedroom, shutting the door behind him.
