Chapter 26

I was woken up in the middle of the night by the walkie talkie, but I was too tired to answer it. By the time I woke up in the morning, I couldn't remember who was talking or what they had said. I headed into Henry's room to see if he had answered it, but he wasn't in his bed

"Henry?" I yelled

No reply

"Henry?!" I yelled again louder while I looked n every room upstairs before then heading downstairs to check on him

"Henry?! Oh" I said as I found him at the table with his book "Morning"

"Hey, there's food on the bench, mom had a meeting this morning" He said

"Did you hear the walkie talkie go off last night? I can't remember what it was about" I said

"Oh, I accidentally pushed the button while I was sleeping, it woke me up too" He said looking weird

"Henry... You know I know you too well!" I told him "I know when your keeping something from me"

"I'm not!" He insisted

"Fine, don't tell me! I'll just have a nap later and focus on you! I'm sure to dream about whatever your hiding from me!" I said knowing it would make him tell me

"Ok, fine... but you have to promise you won't tell Regina!" He said

"Pinkie promise!" I said

"Emma tried to take me out of Storybrook" He said

"What?!" I asked furious

"She asked me if I wanted to be with her and I said yes, obviously I do, so she told me to put my seat belt on and started driving out of town. I was able to convince her to stay but I'm not sure how long she will! She has to break the curse" He said.

"Get your coat" I told him trying to stay calm while feeling like I was going to explode inside! I walked with Henry to Emma's apartment and banged on the door. As soon as it opened a crack, I went bursting through

"What the hell were you thinking?!" I yelled at Emma already feeling the tears running down my face!

"Hope, listen-" She began

"NO! You listen! After everything, everything this town has done for you, not to mention the extra lengths, me, Henry and Mary-Margret have gone for you, why the hell would you show up in the middle of the night to take Henry?! I trusted you with stuff I would never tell anyone else! How about the fact that I only let Regina adopt me because I wanted to protect Henry! And you come along and decide to take him away?! Do you realize how unbelievably selfish that is?!" I yelled at her. Once I was finished, I was panting out of breath. Mary-Margret had the same face as me, clearly pissed off at Emma

"I don't want people counting on me. I wanted to protect Henry" She replied

"Protect him? I protect him! Me! I look after him no matter what! When he has nightmares or he's had a bad day, he climbs into my bed! I comfort him! How the hell am I supposed to trust you alone with him now when you could just take off at any moment?! I can't! You messed up big time! You, of all people, should know that when you break someone's trust, the hardest thing ever, is to get it back again! You know after all those homes you went to, how hard it is to trust someone! I can't trust you!... Come on Henry, we're leaving" I said grabbing his hand and walking out the apartment, my top soaked in tears.

I had a shift at the diner, so I made Henry sit in a booth and read while I worked. When I finally got my break, I sat down with him

"You ok? I'm sorry I yelled in front of you" I said
