Lovesick: Marina One-shorts

Everything will be okay

"It's ok, I'm ok." Maya muttered with the little strength that she still had in herself. Tears threatening to fall down the ocean eyes but, she kept strong for Carina who sat in front of her, holding Maya's hands.

"Why did you have to do this to yourself?" Carina asked not even bothering to wipe the stream of tears flowing down her face and dampening the hospital bed. 

Andy, who was also standing in the room along with the whole team, saw that Maya was struggling to find open her mouth due to the pain in her ribs and, therefore, replied for her, "It was a tough call. Maya had to go in because she is the fastest of us all. She knew that the structural integrity of the apartment had been compromised but she went in and saved the twins. Both the boys are seven years old and totally fine only because of Maya's stubborn ass."

Maya just smiled, not taking her gaze away from the love of her life. "Carina, can you please...give me a moment with my team alone?" She requested her. 

Carina nodded as give her a kiss on the forehead before stepping out of the room.

None of the team members could find their words and they just kept looking at Maya. It ached everyone's hearts to see their brave captain in the hospital bed, bandages covering all over her body and struggling to keep her eyes open. 

"Hey, guys. It's ok. You don't need to worry about me. I know that soon I'm probably gonna be in a better place than where I am right now," She took a deep breath before continuing, "And before I go, I just want to tell you all that you guys are the best team I could ever ask for. I know I was a shitty captain at first but I hope that now I am better. Right?" She intently looked at her team.

"Maya, you are the best captain, no doubt about that," Travis said as he wiped a tear from his cheek.

"I definitely blame you for making me run so much even after knowing how much I hate it, but, Maya the truth is that we are all better because you pushed us. You helped us be the best version of ourselves and I don't think we can thank you enough for that. We all love you very much, Maya." Vic said as she walked up to Maya to give her a hug.

"I love you guys very much too." She said smiling. "But, I need one more favor from you guys. Or take it as the last order from your captain." 

"Anything for you, Maya." Ben assured her.

"I need you all to take care of Carina. I need you all to promise me that even after I go away, you will be by her side and help her heal... She can be a real cry baby when she is sick and I can't imagine leaving her alone during that time. I- I..." She was out of breath and let her tears fall roll down her face and she tightly shut her eyes. "Andy and Vic, I need you to take her out to bars and make her meet new people. Travis, I need you to always keep her smiling by telling her your stupid jokes, which she always finds hilarious. Ben, Miller and Jack, I need you all to support her and be her pillars because she is gonna need it, at least for now."

"Yes, of course." Jack spoke up. Everyone else nodded in agreement. 

"She is family, Maya. We will always have her back. Just like we do in a family." Miller chimed in.

 "Thank you so much everyone. Now, can you guys please call in Carina. I want to spend the rest of my life with her." She smiled weakly.

Everyone said their final goodbyes with hugs and kisses and left the room to allow the couple have their privacy. Carina came in and sat on a stool beside Maya's bed, taking hold of Maya's hand and holding it close to her chest. 

"Hey, baby. Please say something." Maya requested her as she saw her girlfriend silently sit beside her. 

"I love you, Maya." Carina poured her heart out in those four little words. "But, I hate you for risking your life. I hate you for always being so good at what you do and I..." She choked on her tears, "I hate you for being making me see you in this hospital bed, all wounded." 

Maya let her tears fall as she saw her girlfriend crying too. "I'm sorry Carina. I love you too. Very much. I love you with all that I have and I can't imagine what would have happened to me if you hadn't met me in that bar the other night. You saved me, Carina. You trusted me when I didn't deserve it and you never left my side. For the past three years, I have fallen in love with you more and more every single day and I find myself lucky to have experienced your love."

Maya reached out her free arm to wipe the tears from Carina's face. Carina held her stretched out hand, tilted her head and pressed a delicate kiss on her palm.

"Did I tell you that you are looking gorgeous?" Maya inquired her, trying to lighten the mood.

Carina let out a small chuckle, "Stop lying."

"Come on. How can I even lie when a literal goddess is sitting in front of me?" Maya smirked.

"Stop it." She smiled softly.

"How did I get so lucky, Carina? How is it that I got you in my life?" She asked

"It's because you are the most charming, beautiful and breathtakingly astounding person I've ever met." She replied without a single hint of hesitation. The brown eyes resembling the warm sun's kisses were infused with unlimited love for the blond that was in front of her. 

"You know, you're not making it easy for me to leave you." Maya's voice trembled.

"Then, don't. Don't leave me. Don't leave me alone. We still have a lot of things to accomplish together. I wanna complain about your disciplinary morning routine everyday for the rest of my life. I want...I want to spoil you by making you learn how to make a mess with things. I want to be able to kiss your beautiful face as I wake up in the morning and I wanna be awakened by your beautiful kisses on my face..." Carina couldn't control her tears but she continued, "I want to build a family with you. I want a little bambina running around the house who has your eyes and hair. I want to spend the rest of my life with you, Maya Bishop."

"I will never leave you, Carina. I may not be present around you physically, but I will always make sure that you are alright. I will make sure that you are happy and safe and I...I will make sure that you get all the things you wish for, morning hugs and kisses, a family and a little bambina...just not with me, but, with someone else who will make you even more happier than you are with me." Maya was breathless after talking so much and she gestured to Carina to give her some water.

When Maya's breaths became normal, Carina held her face with both her hands and spoke, "Bella, I don't want a family with anyone else. You are the only person whom I love and I will continue to do so, till the day I die." She leant down to press a delicate but long kiss on Maya's lips. 

"Too bad," Maya said as they broke apart, "I've already ordered Andy and Vic to take you out to the bar to make you meet your next girlfriend." Her eyes once again filled with tears as she let those words escape her mouth. 

"Maya...I won't. I can't. No one can make me happier than when I am with you. You are all that-" Carina protested but Maya just placed a finger on her lips to stop her from speaking and said, "Let's just forget about the future for now...Come lay down beside me."

"No, I don't wanna hurt you." Carina was scared of pressing on one of the many tubes that were attached to Maya's body.

"You can never hurt me, my love...Please." She batted her eyelashes multiple times to act like an innocent child which made Carina let out a small chuckle. Carina slowly climbed on the bed and lay down beside her girlfriend, placing her hand delicately over her stomach. 

Maya tilted her head towards Carina, "Baciami, bella." 

Carina smiled at the correct pronunciation and leaned in to kiss her. It was soft and slow as Maya was not able to breath properly but, both the mouths devoured each other, never wanting to detach from that blissful feeling.

Carina placed their foreheads together as they broke apart. Both the pairs of eyes were lost in the other, forgetting about all the pain and trouble in the world. 

Everything seemed to paused as Maya smiled, took a deep breath, and murmured, "I love you," before slowly closing her eyes and slipping off into a long slumber, forever. 

"I love you too." Carina sobbed as she placed her neck in the crook of Maya's neck and her arm tightly holding her body close, never wanting to let go.
