20 minutes later, we finally arrive at the village.
i have my mask on, with my hoodie over my head. for the first time in a long time, nobody bats an eye.
but.. there's still a feeling.
they're staring at you.
stop slouching.
you look horrible .
you look like a boy.
they're staring at you.

"can we go somewhere less crowded please..?" i whisper to her
"what's wrong?" she whispers back, we start heading to her home, on the edge of town.
don't tell her.
"nothing, nothing, just not used to this many people at once."

"ah, well isn't it my two favourite people"
"hey, dad" Ollie says as she takes off her sweater and cap.
i gasp
"i- Ollie!!" i couldn't believe it
she looked at me, a big smile on her face
"you shaved your head-!"
"oh- it appears i did! thank you for clearing that up, Maddie." she says, jokingly.

"Madeline! how are you?" says Ollies dad
you're fine. tell him you're fine.
"i'm great! what about you, mr Wilson?"
"doing quite well, actually! business is good, family is good, everything is great!"
i nod.
"oh right- Ollie dear, your mother wanted you to go to aunt Joes as soon as possible."
"oh alright. let's go, Maddie" she says, putting her cap back on
"well you see, that's the thing.. she wants to see you alone. i'm not sure why, but i'm afraid to say that Madeline has to stay here until you return."
