I wake up to the sound of my phone buzzing on my bedside table. A hoarse groan escapes my lips and I blindly reach for my phone, wanting to shut down the irritating noise, but it's a message from someone, I realise. I have no alarms set for this morning.

Rubbing at my eyes in exhaustion, I don't even bother reading the text before pressing call on the contact, holding the phone to my ear. Barely three seconds pass before it's picked up on the other end, and I whisper groggily, "Why are you messaging me at three in the morning?"

The sound of Peter Parker's laugh makes me freeze, suddenly awake. "Xara, it's almost noon. I, uhm..." His voice turns sheepish. "I asked if you wanted to get lunch, but it might have to be brunch instead for your case. That is– if you want to."

WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING SOMEONE SAVE ME PLEASE–

I clear my throat, rolling over in bed before a shriek escapes my lips as I realise I've rolled right off, crashing on the ground. "...Ow. Peter, can you give me a moment?" I don't wait for a reply before blindly pressing the mute button, then yell excitedly as the events of last night come back to my mind in a rush. "Holy shit. Holy shit. Holy shit! HOLY SHIT! HOLY SHIT!"

"STOP YELLING!" Ky yells from his room, and I just can't help but give a breathless giggle, closing my eyes.

Peter Parker showed up to my date. Peter Parker went on a fake date with me. Peter Parker then asked me out on a real date. Peter Parker is asking if we want to have brunch together.

"Uhm... Xara?"

Peter's nervous voice comes from my phone and I immediately pull myself to my feet, pressing the phone against my ear and clearing my throat. "Yes, Peter?" Then I realise with a sinking heart, "I didn't mute myself, did I?"

"Nope." I swear I hear the amusement in his voice.

"You heard all of that?"

"Yep."

"Perfect. I'll meet you in an hour?"

"Sounds great!" He sounds relieved, as if he thought I was going to say no. As if I'd even say no in the first place when this is literally all I've wanted.

When we end the call, I first check my phone, but no messages from anyone else. No explanation from Jason. In all honesty, I'm disappointed in him, but I have to force that away for the time being. No need to dwell on it.

Instead I hop straight in the shower, being as quick as I can before blowdrying my curls afterwards, searching on my phone for a contact before video calling them. The moment the call connects, I don't even give them a chance to say anything before I'm claiming, "Okay, you were possibly right, Peter showed up at my date last night and asked me out after I was stood up."
