The rest of that week was nothing interesting, just conversations by the fire about anything really, perhaps a hug here and there but overall nothing big. The report was done but they had spent a little extra time in Dragonspine for Albedo's research. Kaeya honestly just hung around Albedo, watching him do his experiments and maybe killing a hilichurl here and there for him. Albedo hadn't zoned out like had before - At least, not as far as Kaeya knew - The only thing off about the Alchemist was how he'd get a lot of headaches but they just assumed it was because of the weather changes... Typically, Albedo would stay up a lot later than Kaeya just to 'finish up research' or work on his own personal things. The Captain never questioned it.. what could Albedo possibly be hiding? He was an innocent man with a passion for alchemy, nothing bad. Alas, their trip came to an end and they both headed back to Mondstadt. Life returned back to normal, apart from the fact that Albedo and Kaeya were much closer now.. Much to the dismay of our fine maiden Sucrose. She had tried so hard to impress the Alchemist. She worked with him tirelessly, she always took care of him, she always greeted him and brought him little gifts and snacks throughout the day,, She had given everything she could to the Alchemist... All for some nobody Cavalry Captain to take it away?! Everytime Kaeya stopped at the lab for lunch with Albedo, Sucrose felt the jealousy grow more and more inside her... But all she could do was wait. The Captain was bound to mess up eventually... She just had to pull the right strings when the time came and Albedo would be hers again.

At first, the captain and the alchemist were close! Talking all the time, eating together, babysitting Klee together,, but over time things started to change. Things were brewing in the mind of Albedo and whatever it was,, it wasn't good. He started to be more busy and slowly became more distant from everyone. His lab doors were now locked more often during the day, and he barely left the place. Not even Sucrose had seen that much of him.. Kaeya began to worry, what if he was sick or hurt? Was it something he had done? This was all so sudden... Deep in thought Kaeya found himself at the door of the lab. Knock. Knock. No response. Strange.. He knocked again... Still nothing. He gently placed his hand not the knob, turning it to check if the door was locked.. It wasn't. He opened the door quietly, peeking around the.. empty room? Where was Albedo... His lab was practically intact... As if no one had been there for the past 3 days... Kaeya made his way to Lisa's office, practically barging in once he got there.

"Where's Albedo?"

"Hm? What are you talking about, dear?"

"Where. Is. The. Chief Alchemist. Albedo."

"Dragonspine... Why do you ask?"

"He's in Dragonspine?? Since when?? We agreed that we'd go together... Or at least he would tell me when he was leaving.."

"He didn't tell you? I thought you two were best friends? ..Well, best friends who are two steps away from being lovers..."

"How long has he been in Dragonspine exactly?"

"A few days.. He kind of just left, barely leaving a notice or anything. He seemed quite tired aswell.. Maybe he just needed a break?"

Kaeya had heard enough. He quickly grabbed his things and set off to Dragonspine, going up the same path they had went the last time. It felt a lot colder... and lonelier. Life in general was lonlier without Albedo around, being with him was the highlight of the Captains day.. Why would he leave so suddenly? Why would he leave him...

- Dragonspine was a lonely place. A cold mountain that barely anyone visited, yet many secrets lay within... Isn't it funny how people will avoid the cold weather? The mountain was just like any other, just more secluded and dangerous to the unprepared... Yet people choose to remain unprepared and leave the mountain untouched... The secrets to never be revealed. Some people considered it a place that almost felt like being in a different world. So alone, so quiet, so unfamiliar... Only those seemingly 'other worldly' individuals who are alone, quiet, and unfamiliar could truly resonate with such a place. Only they could be the ones to find what others simply couldn't with their 1 sided views. For they are the only people willing to step out of the comfort zone and into unfamiliar territory... For some, this would lead to good things. A new worldview! New ideas!.. But for some, this would lead to curses and betrayal... It was less about the person and more of the approach. When climbing a mountain a good personality won't get you anywhere unless you know how to climb properly... But of course, some think they know but don't... and they will be the first to learn where their limits will leave them. -

Kaeya slowly walked into the camp they had been at before. Unlike the lab, there seemed to have been someone there quite recently... There were papers everywhere. All of Albedos writing aswell... Kaeya slowly started to pick them up, reading them... They were.. plans. of some sort... The energy off the paper itself was negative... It felt chaotic and malicious. It was,, a new feeling to feel such energy from a piece of paper.. Slowly as he continued reading, everything started to come together...

\ HELLO!! I AM TAKING CREATIVE LIBERTY!! THIS NEXT PART IS NOT CANON LORE! JUST MY OWN BS :) \

A long, long, long time ago, when Mondstadt had just barely grown into a city, there was a man. A blacksmith. Unlike any ordinary blacksmith, he had the power to dwell into the realms of magic, and his dream was to one day assist the knights and use such power for the better of Mondstadt. Every year he trained to join the knights to no avail. No matter what he did, they simply never had a spot for him... He tried assist in other ways though, when a nearby enemy planned an attack, he was of the first to go to the Grand Master and give his input of a plan... to be ignored. Casted out and ridiculed. Suddently he found himself not wanting to help Monstadt anymore.. He was just a laughing stock anyways. no one took him seriously... So he left. He left to start his own empire which would one day crush Mondstadt... He ran and ran for days until he found a mountain - now Dragonspine - . The perfect place to begin his plan... He had high ground, He had everything he needed... But, a good emperor needed a good weapon of course. So he went, and worked tirelessly for days on a weapon. To him, this weapon alone would be what destroy Mondstadt. He channeled all his power and energy into this sword, wanting to make it so powerful that not even a god could stop him. He wanted this sword to be the last thing Mondstadt ever saw... But it was the last thing he ended up ever seeing... This sword lead to nothing but his own demise... Never put to it's proper use... Just left there in the mountain waiting for the day when someone may wield it, and finally destroy the city. But the man was not stupid, for he set a curse - Whoever is to come across his creation, shall be the one to put it to its true use and destroy all of Mondstadt. This curse shall only be for as long as the beholder lives, or the sword remains in one piece. -

Someone was destined to find the sword... We all know who. They know who. He knows who. Curiousity kills the cat... but now it was more about which cat would be the first to see its demise; Albedo - the beholder of the curse , or Kaeya - who now knew of said curse and the plans to destroy Mondstadt.

...

"Kaeya Alberich... What are you doing here?"
