When my stop did come up, I decided to take a bus to teazers and buy her a Honolulu. I still have the key she gave me this is all fool proof.
I ordered her drink. I'm not sure what street I'm on but I notice the familiar landmarks like the library, the messed up bench. I decided to walk to her house.
I took longer strides. I wanted to get to her quickly, no time to waist. I was only a block away now and my heart beat quickened with every step.
As her door came in sight, I pulled the key from my back pocket and unlocked it. I pulled my bag over my shoulder and set it on the couch. "Viv! " I shouted. I knew I had a big stupid grin on my face but I don't care. I'm just so happy to be here.
I didn't hear her. I set the drink down on the table, along with the keys. I looked around the kitchen and living room, down the hall but nothing. "Viv?" I pulled my phone out and dialled her number. I noticed the missed call last night.
I clicked on the green button but the line went straight to voicemail. "Hey it's me. Leave a message and I'll get back to you." Her voice sounded through the speaker.
I walked into the room and checked the closet. "Viv? " she's playing games.
I walked over to the bathroom and took in the sight. Small, white pills scattered on the floor. My girlfriends limp body laying there cold.
I fell to my knees and got her in my arms. "Viv!" I shouted as I gripped her shoulders. I shook her. "Viviana!" I shouted and grabbed my phone.
My fingers typed the three digits and I was soon connected. "9-1-1 what's your emergency?"
"My girlfriend. She's not conscious. There are pills everywhere. " I wiped at the tears spilling from my eyes.
"Okay stay calm. I'm sending help. Can you check if there's a pulse?" My shaking fingers found her neck. Nothing. I shut my eyes and let out a weeping sound.
"N-No." I spoke into the phone.
"The ambulance is on the way. " I threw my phone besides me and I sat there. Viviana's body sitting in my arms.
"You fucking told me you were better. You-" I hit the wall I was leaning on and gripped her tighter.
"Fuck! " I whispered and kissed her forehead. She was cold. There wasn't much color to her skin. She's gone.
I sat there. Waiting for the ambulance to get here.
"I wanna be drunk when I wake up on the right side of the wrong bed. And never an excuse I made up tell you the truth what didn't kill me it never made me stronger at all. And love will scar your make up lip sticks to me so now I'll maybe lean back there I'm sat here wishing I was sober no ill never hold you like I used t-" what am I doing.
I held her as I heard the sirens. The door of the bathroom was soon opened and I noticed the paramedics pulling the stretcher behind them.
"Please step back sir." I wiped my face with both hands and walked into the room. I walked out to the living room. Soon enough I watched them pull her limp body out of the house and into the ambulance.
I sat on the couch and tried to wake myself from this horrible nightmare. But this wasn't a nightmare. Its real. And I can't wake up.
I went back into the room and picked my phone up off the floor. I dialed her mom's number and ran a hand through my hair.
"Hello?" I sighed.
"Viv. She's- " I couldn't say it. I can't. "Please get here. " I cried out.
It Ended With Goodbye
