I remember the day she came to me,
Destined to be her mother and caretaker
I vowed to adopt her into my heart and to take care
of her plastic boo-boos' and sniffles

A journey I never thought would end, she was there
To the PleaseTouch Museum, Daddy's, and Grandma's
I brought her everywhere, loving every second of
the multiple days we would spend

Kiara, her name
A brown child like me
I loved her textured hair, pushed into two curly buns
Oh, we would have so much fun

A tragic day arrived, one discovery that never slips my mind. Her face ruined, tagged by pen and marker
That once pristine pink shirt was now brown and faded
Her textured hair? No longer full of flair.

I remember the day she came to me,
Destined to be her mother and caretaker
I vowed to adopt her into my heart and to take care
of her plastic boo-boos' and sniffles–I failed her....

Inspiration?: I actually wrote this for a class assignment. I really had a deep connection with that doll, she was one of my favorite toys until I left her over my dad's house and my sister destroyed her. It broke my soul 😩 So in tribute to my beloved daughter, I wrote this.
