Castiel looked uncomfortable on the train. We were both in casual clothes, jeans and sweatshirts, trying to be undercover 'just in case'.

I had my headphones in, my head leaning against the window. I was almost asleep when the bus came to a stop and Cas said, "Come on. Time to get off."

He stood and got my bag down, and I followed him down the steps and off the bus.

"Welcome to Sioux Falls," he said. "And there's Bobby."

We got into an old black car, Cas putting my bag in the trunk while I got in the front seat. "You must be Eve," a gruff old man said. He wore a baseball hat and a jean jacket. He looked like someone who did a lot of hard labor.

"Evie," I corrected. "And you're Bobby?"

He nodded. "Yup," he said. "You're gonna be stayin' with me for a few days before Sam and Dean come back from a hunt. You'll be staying with them then. It'll be safer with them."

I nodded. "Who are they?" I asked. "Are they...hunters, too?" Cas had told me all about hunting, even though all of it seemed crazy.

"Yeah," Bobby said as we pulled out. "They're great boys. You'll like them. They've got a nice place." I saw him glance at my stomach. "It'd be a safe place for a kid."

I nodded. "Hopefully," I said as he glanced again. "I'm not showing yet. You can stop looking."

"Sorry," he said, his eyes back on the road.

"It's okay." I ran my hand over my still-pretty-flat stomach. "This whole thing is crazy. Can't believe God knocked me up."

He laughed a little. "Me neither," he said. "Last I heard, God had left the building."

"Apparently he's returned," Cas said from the backseat. "He's not really talking to anyone, though."

"Hmm," I said. "He left?"

"Yeah," Bobby said. "Apocalypse almost happened and he didn't do anything. Said it wasn't his problem. He ditched us."

"I still want to go to church," I said. "I think it's more important now than ever."

"Okay," Bobby said. "Whatever you want. But once you start to show, those church people ain't gonna be very happy you're not married. Wouldn't tell them that it's God's."

"No, of course I wouldn't tell them," I said. "I'll just say my husband is at war, overseas."

"That's a good coverup," he said. "You quick on your feet?"

"I try to be."

He nodded as we pulled up to an old house. "Not the fanciest place, but it's home," he said as we got out. Old cars littered the yard.

"Oh, okay," I said. "Interesting. It's got character."

He smiled a little and grabbed my bag. "Glad you see it that way."

-

He made a dinner of tacos and baked beans.

"So, what kinda stuff do you edit?" Bobby asked as we started to eat.

"I edit a beer magazine," I said with a small smile. "It's basically my baby." I heard the irony as I said it. I already had a baby.

He nodded. "What beer?"

"Sunshine Ale. It's actually really good. I like it a lot."

Bobby nodded. "Is it a little company?" he asked.

"Nope," I said, eating some beans. "It's distributed all across the country."

He nodded. "Interesting," he said. "Might have to try it."

"You won't regret it," I said with small smile.

-

"Does this look okay?" Bobby asked as we walked into the room. "Changed the sheets, put on new pillowcases. Do you new more pillows?"

I shook my head. "No," I said. "This is perfect. Thanks."

He nodded. "No problem."
