How Long Has It Been?

By now, Usopp had cleared up all the 'therapy' photos and set them aside, now standing almost blankly in the middle of the deck. That old familiar song had begun to fill his ears now, and he turned to see the distantly poised Brook playing his heart away. This was a moment he missed, but when he turned his head slightly to see if he wasn't the only one left out on the deck besides Brook, his heart jumped slightly when he saw you sitting alone on the railing of the ship. This, was a far greater moment he missed over the past two years, and he wondered if he'd still be able to do it.

Turning around completely, Usopp slowly started for you on the railing and quietly leaned on it beside you, as not to disturb your content state.

"Hey _______." He greeted casually.

Breathing in slightly at his presence, you grew slightly happier to find him there now. "Hey Usopp." You replied, turning your head to see him. "How's captain nose bleed doing?"

"Who the hell knows." He chuckled. "Chopper's got him covered though. Let's just hope he refrains from furious nose bleeds for a little longer."

"Yeah, we kinda need him for the road ahead." You agreed, looking back out to the undersea.

You and Usopp stared out there for a while, sitting in some silence as you watched the fish glide by, the sweet accompaniment of Brook's music filling your ears and creating a calm setting as the sound reverberated off the bubble coating and back at you around the ship. Then, you took a short glance over at Usopp from the corner of your eye. God he has changed so much, and it was a damn good change too. You remembered when you used to sit with him like this before, and doing it again began to feel great.

"Hey _______, I have a... kind of a question, or questions for you." Usopp piped up, turning towards you as he hoisted himself up onto the railing next to you.

"Shoot then." You acknowledged, turning to him to listen.

"Er, they aren't even questions. Wow." He chuckled, casting his gaze aside before clearing his throat.

"Ah, just fly at 'er! It doesn't really matter. Some non-insane conversation would be nice." You nodded, encouraging the conversation.

"Well, it's more or less just memories kinda. Just wanna... reminisce in what we did before, and expect things for now." He said simply. "Just because, it's been so long since, anything."

You chuckled a little. "Yeah, it has." Pausing for a moment, you thought about everything since day one. It certainly was all so long ago. "Hey, how long has it been since we first even met?"

"Oh god, that was so long ago. A few years at least. Wow." Usopp mused. "That was when our adventures began. Speaking of them... How long has it been since we've even set out on a journey like this?" He added, gazing out at a nearby passing fish.

"Oh jeez, only around two years ago or so when we first made it to the archipelago. It's definitely been a while since I've had a good rush like this." You nodded, remembering all your adventures from the past.

"Yeah... Kinda like how long it's been since we last met... A long, long, two years ago." He mumbled slightly.

You paused and began to think about that for a moment. Your heart gave a slight flutter as you took a sideways glance at Usopp.

"Yeah, it's been a long time since we've last seen each other..." You said slowly with an airy chuckle. "But, we're finally back now, and I think that's the greatest thing ever right now." You finished with a smile.

He looked back at you, and your vision locked for a moment. It was almost like you were both thinking the same thing now, the calming atmosphere and music slightly getting to you.

"_______... How long has it been since we... Since we've had a moment like this?" He asked nervously, looking you in the eye.

It was not that the real good memories began flowing back to you. What you have truly missed over the years, and what has definitely been so long since you've been able to do. Just sitting with your best friend, and partner, Usopp.

"Way, WAY too long." You answered, sliding over quickly and grabbing Usopp. Pulling him into a warm, tight hug.

This is definitely what you wanted right now. Just to be in his arms again after so long. No matter how cheesy it seemed, this was so what you've been waiting for. It felt like a lifetime had gone by since you last saw him, and you thought that you might have lost the connection you had with him before. But now, you realized that it only made the two of you stronger, and that you really missed being with him again.

"Yep, I definitely missed this so, so much. It's been far too long since we've been together." Usopp mumbled, pulling you into his chest and leaning you into him on the railing.

"I thought we might've kinda... drifted apart these past two years. That's why I was hesitant at first today... Because I wasn't sure if you... you know..." You mumbled slightly.

"_______, no matter how long it's been, I'll always love you. Even if we get launched into the middle of nowhere again, I always will." Usopp reassured. "It's been so long since we've been together, so long since I've been able to show my love to you, and so damn long since we've been able to do this." He added, leaning his head down and pressing a gentle kiss of reassurance on your lips.

You felt an immediate sense of relief flood over you at this gesture, choking back a combination og laughter and tears as you happily leaned up into him, wrapping your arms around his neck as you kissed back. The time apart from each other has been too much, and only strengthened your desire to be together again, which accelerated the feeling you got when you were in his arms once again, and against his lips as well.

With his hands at your waist, he arched into you with a certain tenderness, lifting one hand to brush a bit of your hair out of your face before slowly pulling back to look at you, his hand resting gently on your cheek.

"... I've missed that..." You mumbled with a small smile, glancing around slightly before locking eyes with him.

"So have I. It has definitely been far, far too long since we've been able to be together like this." He agreed, stroking your hair slightly before hugging you once again.

"I'm glad we're able to do this again too. You have no idea how much I've been waiting for this moment again." You added on.

The faint laughter of Brook in the background made its way to your ears, catching your attention and making you blush slightly in embarrassment, considering he caught sight of your actions.

"Ah, don't mind him _______. We're back together now." Usopp said, turning your head back to him and nuzzling you sweetly.

You chuckled. "You're right. Thanks."

With that, you remained on the railing with Usopp, staring out into the depths of the sea with sparkling bubbled and magnificent fish drifting by, Brook's sweet music filling the air as well as you leaned into Usopp, happy with the reunion after such a long time.
