This is a soulmate au where most people have a soulmate mark anywhere on their body. If your soulmate has either died, became uninterested, or has given up on finding you then your mark will slowly fade away. Once your mark fades away completely then you can never see them again, if they have died it immediately fades away. Until you find your soulmate the mark won't be colored in, and when finding your soulmate you would have to touch them. When you touch them then you would've found them.
In this universe it isn't abnormal to have more than one soulmate, it is pretty common. The normal amount of soulmates you would have is 1-3.
